I've had these being made, long before Han's idea of making them.

Mine are about a week form being done....also out being anodized.

Hold on there buckaroo....

That is my design inspired by Han's supercharger design magic. I got idea at Rendezvous 928. Not a date competition.

Glad there's competition to keep our cars affordable to own and maintain.

Default Another step closer.

Parts get dropped off Tuesday to be hard anodized.

Need to decide on whether they will be glossy or matte black.

And then off to be laser engraved.

I would guess we are about 2-3 weeks away from the initial production run being complete.

Why not a gold finish like the originals?

To paraphrase Henry Ford you can have any color hard coat anodizing as long as it's black. :-)

I'd likle mine to look as close to the original cad plating color as possible. Pretty please.

Kevin -

Thank you for taking the initiative here to not only share design ideas but to commit to actually bringing these to the 928 Community. I would very much like to be in line for a set, maybe two sets.

Neither of my S4s need this now but I'd be anxious to see how much better of an option these seem to be for me.

Let me know as this progresses (and by the way Gold or Cadmium-like would be REALLY cool )

Thanks!

I assume you considered the impact hard anodizing will have on the thread sizes? Unless you planned on masking the threads, perhaps it would be a good idea to try one first, before committing the entire lot. Nice concept and design - best of luck!

Yes, the parts were machined with hard coating and the resultant thickness in mind. So, hard coat is the only option now.

Hard coating is more durable and chemical resistant. That was my reasoning for going this way. We have all seen how quickly cam cover bolts, cup washers, fuel pressure regulator and dampers lose their shine and color over time in the engine bay. That is something I wanted to avoid.

My research shows hard coating in either black or natural. Natural is almost a green-brown and can vary from batch to batch. I needed a consistent durable coating. That left me with black.

Only the front damper is visible. It sits in front of a black frame rail cover and connected to the PS fuel rail with a black fuel line. I think that will look ok.

Kevin Wilson thinks the natural is what the Porsche cam gear color.

So, let me amend my comment above to: I'll circle back to my anodizer on Tuesday and get a better picture (lol) of what natural looks like.

CAM gear colour might work. At the end of the day a great product regardless. If not anything close to the gold colour then black with a gold damper in it would look ok. I just had all my fuel lines at the front re plated back to gold. Maybe painting it might be an option as well as below.

How does it hold up to fuel.

Default Prototypes are done

Hard anodizing is done and the prototypes are on their way to me.

Now onto testing.
