Default New Fuel Pressure Regulator Replacement Design

This is a design I came up with having watched what Hans was doing with the supercharger project. Hans brought to 3D reality.

It is a compound solution comprised of a housing in 6061 aluminum, an off the shelf Bosch regulator and a snap ring to hold it in place.

The concept is pretty simple. The housing stays in place and you simply replace the regulator when it gives up the ghost.

The regulator is good for stock fuel pump application. Currently in use with 5.0ltr Mercedes engines. It runs about $50 online.

I have similar designs for the front and rear dampers.

A great way to put the 500.00 for a fuel regulator issue to bed

Kevin,

Nice one!

I have been looking at items made by Radium to see what scope there is for integration given some of the crazy Porsche pricing for what is a somewhat commonly available set of items. The Radium items have replaceable diaphragms in them.

Bottom line there appears to be no shortage of makes out there once the integration issue is resolved.

That would be awesome! I just discovered that my FPR and rear damper were both leaking so I just bought a pair of used ones due to the ridiculous cost of new ones (around $1k for the pair). Do you think that this same solution could work for the dampers? If so I'm sure you'd be able to sell a bunch of them.

Greatly idea, how does the regulator/housing seal work as fuel passes through?

This thread is a 'design' thread. Nothing is being offered for sale.

I'm not a RL vendor and as such cannot respond or I risk being banned.

If RL grants me Small Business or Cottage Vendor Sponsorship then I will be free to discuss that.

The same goes for the PM's I'm getting. Sorry.

Friends --

Kevin has started the 'cottage vendor' process, which will allow marketing discussions. Right now, this is the technical discussion, listening and responding to suggestions and comments on how it will fit and work. The concept drawings look good. Sometimes the last 10% of the design takes the other 90% of the effort, getting mountings and clearances worked out before pieces go to manufacturing. Much easier to solve on paper and screen than after there's a pallet of hard parts coming off the truck.

Kevin,

Did you manage to determine what the spec is for those end connections by any chance? I tried earlier and failed miserably.

The thread size appears to be very similar to AN6 but what the seat form is I have no clue whatsoever.
