Default Need help identifying these tubes

My guess is that they are vacuum lines for HVAC but my guesses are almost always wrong It appears that the 2 dangling tubes should simply plug into the 2 open ports on the module just above the radio. If so, which is which and what is their function?

John

Thanks Petza. Getting to understand this car has been and continues to be a steep learning curve for me. This forum has been a great help!

When I took my HVAC out I made a diagram of the hose connections. Numbers are positioned like the orifices on the back of the head then numbered from L to R starting in the top left corner.

Looks like those 2 of yours are what I called 8 & 13 that Y together to the black hose they're connected to in your photo

I agree....I've placed the open tubes back into "8 and 13" as you suggested. Do you have any thoughts regarding HVAC problems that might have been observed by having those 2 ports open?

John

Sorry, I ain't the guy for that question. I just removed mine and put them back the way they were. I know very little about A/C systems.

No problem.
Some answers may only be known to Porsche engineers....or perhaps not even them.

JHC928,
Normally those vacuum lines are color coded for each individual vacuum actuator. Obviously yours had a leak in past and were replaced. The original vacuum line comes into the vacuum manifold through the firewall and goes to the vacuum manifold (an electromechanical vaccum switch) that turns vacuum on and off to each vacuum actuator depending on the position of the AC head unit control slider. To simplify your life later down the road, you might want to determine what each line controls now while you are there, and tag the line for future reference.,

Thank you soontobered84!

I have a manual HVAC head unit which I assume could be a bit simpler to map. Are the color coded lines only for automatic HVAC units?

John
