Default Wiring Schematic - Master Cylinder

Does anyone happen to have a wiring schematic for the master cylinder? My brake lights have gone out and I want to check the brake light sensors.

Do this search on Rennlist. You will find all you need to Know:

"brake light switch"

Also, buy the Work Shop Manuals. Do a search for that as well.

Sean,
I tried every place in town and nobody has the work shop manuals. I'm doing a brake light switch search now. So you say the brake pressure sensor and brake light sensor are one in the same?
p.s. OT- How about that whole Bertuzzi situation? Really sad..he obviously didn't mean to hurt the guy so badly. Pretty crazy, was sorry to see that. I wonder if he'll get criminal charges. Could wind up like McSorley and never play another NHL game, although he's in his prime, McSorley was not.

The WSMs are out of print and only available in hardcopy via places like ebay. They will set you back around $300. For about 1/10th of the price you can get the complete set on CD along with other useful stuff from Jim Moorehouse.

Jim's email is jim928ATptd.net - change the AT to the standard @ to contact him. (Address changed to prevent bot harvesting.)

John,
Thats a great "schematic"...thanks. Unfortunately what I was looking for is maybe more of a diagram or even a photo of where the sensor is on the master cylinder. I think what I'm going to do first is get two new sensors and install them to see if that corrects the problem. I know one of the sensors went out about 8 months ago and I disconnected it to turn off the brake pressure warning light. I had procrastinated quite a while in getting a new sensor. Now I think I need two of them. I did a search which explains how to install them. I'm hoping this will do the trick. At this point I am assuming that the sensors have multiple functionality and that the problem lies there as my Vancouver friend has suggested. I'm going to search to see where I can get the sensors as all the local Porsche repair guys are out of stock. Gonna have to pick up that disc with the repair info. soon too.

The sensors screw to the bottom of the master cyl. You will need to bleed the brakes afterwards.
Might want to check some VW sources. They use the same switches.

Well, the good news was that I was eventually able to track down the parts. Turns out the independent auto parts place had a former 928 owner working there who has a complete set of shop manuals. We didn't find anything specific about the repairs I was about to undertake but just a weird coincidence. Anyhow, I was able to replace the sensor closest to the firewall. This was the one I had previously unplugged due to a brake pressure warning light several months ago. I was unable to get the other sensor loose due to the brake lines in the area. I bought a crecent wrench that fit the area but leverage on it is virtually impossible. I also bought a crow-foot wrench but that one is also too short to gain any leverage. I may try again at a later date but in the end the brake lights now function fine and the is no warning light for either brake lights or the brake pressure. I'm sure the brake light functionality of the sensor I couldn't remove is broken but at least the brake lights are working. Thanks to all for the input on how to fix this. The archives also had most of the information I needed.
