I have one from 83 auto. Would that be the same? Not able to look for part number just now. It's on a trans that had catastrophic revers clutch failure so may need to be cleaned..

I am not sure. The numbers on the gearbox are 722 270 18 01 722 318 02 559797 , I have no idea which is the actual part number unfortunately.
What you need is a rebuilt unit from Porsche. Autoatlanta offers them here. Buying a used valve body is a crapshoot.
Thanks. I will look into it.
The problem is that I am in South Africa and with our government screwing up the economy on a daily basis , buying parts from overseas is crippling.

What is wrong with your current valve body? Total failure of the valve body is rare. Is there something we can do to help? I can't do a valve body rebuild in the dark yet, but I'm close....
And BTW, government screwing up the economy is not isolated to South Africa...ours is doing a spectacular job at this, too!

Thanks for the reply. I would love to try and have it repaired , but according to the gearbox specialists it cannot be repaired. One of the pistons broke and it has caused a pit mark inside , and so according to them , it will need to be replaced.
I hate hearing that , especially after being in the trade for 30 years.....I believe anything can get repaired. The one thing that I have never done is work on gearboxes which is rather strange as my father was a gearbox specialist for Borg Warner.
The car will not change up under normal driving conditions , only under hard acceleration and if I come slightly off the throttle at lower revs.
K1 piston?
I've got an entire box of valve bodies I use for parts. I can probably find the appropriate body and a piston....you could then transfer your remaining pieces.

If you could that for me , I would be over the moon. That's awesome.
If you do , please let me know what you want for it and if you can 'gues-timate' shipping.
I will check with the gearbox shop if they have any other images tomorrow (night time here now) as they have reassembled the box.
Thank you very much once again.
Just ask them what bore got damaged.
I'm guessing that the spring broke, ruined the plastic piston, and damaged the bore.
While not super common, I am seeing it, more often.
Springs break, with age and use.

The gearbox is assembled and the gearbox shop says that they will only have time to strip again next week.
I think you are 100 % correct on the spring that broke.
Perhaps , if you can work on the valve body part number for the valve body. That would be greatly appreciated. Trying to locate a valve body is what is currently giving me sleepless nights.
