I have managed to totally confuse myself, and to fix that situation, I am hoping someone has a photo of the window regulator showing the positions of the two bumper stops. One can only go in one position, but if you are sufficiently creative, the other can go in either of two locations. Help! and TYIA!!
I should have added a pic- these will show what I'm confused about:
Position A
Position B
The arm movement with the stop in "B" is one tooth less than in "A". "A" is where the stop had been (you can see from the marks on the armature) and I think that may be why it jammed (often)- over travel. Advice appreciated! And thanks for replying, Stan.
for posterity,
the stop parts will eventually crumble,
they are easily replaced with a piece of tire sidewall,
I use metal shears to cut the tire.
So cut to size,
put the rubber into the stop bracket,
it has a small rib that holds the new rubber stop in place.
NOTE you may have adjust where the stops sit after fitting new pads,
this so the window doesnt slam into the bottom of the door.
OR go up so hi that the window hits the plastic guide screw at the top edge of the door,
and then the window will crack at the screw
