Unhappy "Mark Kibort - I have issues with the part you sold me

Dear Mark, i wanted you to know the results of the cam housing you sold me,since more than one month i tried to send you 2 pms and 1 e-mail, without success.
First the housing is broken , cracked near the hole where the pin (guide) goes, maybe it could be used like this.
Second , the housing bolts plugs are screw type and mine were rubber type, the plugs were'nt with the housing but not a big problem i could get them with the washers.
Third and worst ,the housing does'nt fit my car, i think they come from a 4.7 liters or younger but on my 4.5 1979 it is not alike. Could you come back to me about this please .

no problem. if it doesnt fit, it doesnt fit.
Let me know what you would like to do. it was expensive sending it up to you, but i had no idea that it would not fit. (thought all two valve cam tower housings were the same.)

I thought all of the cam tower housing were the same as well. I checket the PET, same part number for 1979, 1981, and 1984. Unless am's car is a euro, I'm not sure if PET covers euro motors.

EDIT - looks like the part number for 78,79,80 where dropped. The 81-84 is the replacement.

Thank's guys for the help, and yes the car is a euro ,was written down in the description in every post i make.
I did'nt see enough 928 engines to know all the differences but the two cam housings are not alike.
I looked at my pet cd and the exploded view is exactly the same as my housing, The major difference is parts loc #4 and #5 of exploded view of the housing. On the one i received i can't put the bushes #4, i said maybe this model don't use the bushes and i must put only the hydraulic valve tappets (loc #5) ? If yes i did'nt like the idea of having odd housings .
Any opinion on that ?
Mark ,i will contact you thru e-mail, thank's for answering

Lets talk more privately.

by the way, the housings were from an 82 euro.
they housed my cams in a prior life, and attached to my euro heads in a prior life too.
so, if that is the case, they should work.

off line we go

Interesting. I'm running US cam housings with Euro cams on Euro heads with no problems.

With the right level of experience, anything can "not fit".

That's what I used to say to an old girlfriend in college. I will now go straight to Hell . . not pass Go, not collect $200.

They are exactly the same for all years. The plugs might have been different, but you can upgrade to the new ones.

The critical dimensions are the same as noted early used rubber plugs and a weird figure 8 gasket around the lifters. All interchange no problem.

Holy thread resurrection, 123quattro!!!!

This thread lay dormant for SIX years - what prompted you to revive it?

Is this indicating that maybe Rennlist needs a warning to appear if there has been no activity on a thread for, say, a year?

FWIW the OP got later housings they would work all he has to do is swap over his lifters,
the old style lifter housings are replaced with the new style cast in lifter bores this also requires a new style tower gasket and to omit the figure 8 gaskets

Some boards automatically close threads after X months of inactivity. Might be a good idea??

What think thee, IB?
