1989 928 GT?
Talking to a dealer of what looks like a really nice example of an '89 928. It is listed as a 928GT, but I'm seeing conflicting information about when they were produced. There's a Porsche buyers guide I've used to help me with Carrera's, but also has the other models. In the 928 section it notes that GT's weren't produced until '91.
The car in question does not come with the window sticker, but does have a COA. The COA says it's an S4, but under optional equipment it says "GT Model." Pics of the car and the COA are here:

Is this a legit GT?

You can also check the engine stamp on the block to make sure it says M28.47. Here is a picture that shows where to look. I very much doubt the engine has been swapped on a less than 30,000 mile car but its an easy check. Also the tachometer should show a redline of 6,600 rpms instead of 6,200 hundred for the S4.

Pretty good looking car, from what I can see.
Covid 19 will have lowered the value of this car, significantly. Not many people are buying this type of vehicle, right now, and anyone with that small of a business and that inventory should be open to negotiations. However, even if you have to pay 60K, you will get a very special car.
Their comment about the car coming from a collector and being traded for a 2009 911 is a joke...what collector, with a brain, would get rid of an '89 928GT for a regular old water cooled 911?

Here is the link from 2 1/2 years ago when it was for sale here on RL in October 2017. Car ended up in Florida and I almost purchased it last year from the owner there who pulled the Canadian cluster and swapped for US version.

The dealer is telling me that the Canadian cluster is still installed, and that a US cluster is included in the sale.
His pics still have the KM UOM. Do you think this is not the case?

Which raises the question of how many miles were put on it while it had the US cluster installed.
And, for the record, the GT 'package' was introduced as an option in 89. There were 5 speed S4s that weren't GTs.
In 90 & 91, there were no manual S4s. All the S4 cars were automatics. All the manual cars were GTs.
That looks like a legit GT. Tach redline is 6600. Shifter looks like the shorter GT version. I think that's the GT rear muffler. I'm no 100% sure on that (there are a few folks on here who really know those sorts of details).
And yeah, that ad could have been written by Wilhoit's brother.

Well, I'd guess that the Canadian cluster was swapped back at some point.

The fact that I could not tell what the real miles were is why I did not purchase it. It was listed on eBay last May as well.

Everything "looks" correct. I had a 89 928 GT and I could switch the readings from MPH to KM by doing a quick double pull on the multi-function lever. Maybe Canadian cars were different.

Yep, Cdn cars can't do the toggle between KM and MPH. It'd be nice to see some undercarriage shots...should be able to tell if the mileage is off with those pics. Interior and exterior look like a low mile example, but you can never be sure.
