Started the car today and have what appears to be a lifter type noise coming from passenger side or near the center of the intake.

Started it yesterday no noise, car is in a heated garage. Not sure what would make that sound out of the blue. Perfect oil level.

Thoughts on what this could be? It calmed down once warmed up, but did not go away...

What oil and viscosity are you running? Needs to be something in the 15/50 or 20/50 viscosity.

Running 20/50, changed oil about 1k ago and it is still fresh and clean, no leaks no drips. So weird, I cant imagine what could make it just do that at startup all the sudden.

What happen is that a lifter bled down and then when you started it it’s gonna take a little time to fill back up again

so what you need to do is get in the car and take it for a drive 15 miles should make it go away and don’t worry about it

Well that is great news, was hoping no long term affects. This car has been so well taken care of, but am consistently worried about the heads and ensuring there is no corrosion.

Not ready to pull the motor at this point but it has to be checked. Probably a project for next winter. Fresh coolant is installed now and everything looked really good when i took the entire top end off, of course could only see into the thermostat housing/WB etc.

I will be installing a TB/WP and also a GB harmonic balancer this winter, so more to come.

Thanks for the help gents : )
