Ask Roger. The shop he sent me to, that has done a lot of work for him, did a spectacular job for me at what I considered a fantastic price. They had to match my unavailable paint and I doubt an expert can detect the difference.

I would recommend talking to someone at the nearest Porsche dealership and let the recommend you to them. That's what I did with my father 89 S4 when we had to respray the front bumper. They should give a body shop that is Porsche recommended or authorized and in the area.

I've painted a few cars in the past. I used to have a booth that I built with fans/filters. I got rid of it so I thought I would outsource, but I went ahead and sprayed them myself....it's all good.

Looks great. Intend to do (factory red) my own - entire car: both metal and plastic. For over 10 years, I was an airless painter in commercial and residential construction so i’m comfortable behind the gun and expect most of the skill will transfer. Have absolutely no experience preparing and pairing an auto.

Looking for experienced, hands-on, advice.

Thanks...

If you sprayed anything, you'll be fine. The most important elements are prep and cut/buff. If you are painting a solid color you could literally brush on paint so long as you then wet sand it smooth, then cut and polish.
When you get ready to start prep, let me know! I'll try to offer helpful advice.

Slownrusty, do you happen to have the contact for that mobile paint specialist in the DFW? Would love to give him a call. Thanks and happy new year!

GTI Collision & Restoration in Euless. 817-540-0712. They did several repaints for my 89 GT. Excellent paint match.
