Default 4,7 and 5,0 Block Differences, Part 2 .....

Hello !
Curiosity strikes again... I am unable to "see" this detail on PET...
My old 4.7 block compared to my new 5.0 ...
The 5.0 has 4 mounting holes that are no present on the 4.7
Can someone please tell me what these mounting spots (marked with red arrows) are used for?
Thanks and have a great evening.

Those are for the bolt-on cast iron bracket that the starter bolts to.
I think the earlier engines had the starter bolt to the lower bellhousing.

Out of curiosity could you use a later flywheel/flexplate with the teeth for the CPS with an early lower bell housing that the starter bolts directly to or will it not line up?

Great, thank you!

Or build custom mount. At least one exists.
