Hi Alan. I know it has be a while since you asked, but when you did I had not actually even tried one of these. I had rigged up the attachment one I showed in this thread but it just seemed too cumbersome so I didn't even try it. Then I ordered two of the ones you posted a link for and sent them about $60, but I never received them. Somewhat later I bought one of the same ones you posted (WEN) on eBay I think and just today I gave it a try. It does fairly well, but is not quite aggressive enough for the first phase of finishing the sawed edges. What I did was then use my disc grinder with a stone wheel on it and worked the edges down to their finish size, then used the WEN to de-burr the edges since the stone grinder leaves a significant burr on both sides of the edges. After the WEN I used a smaller angle grinder that I have and de-burred the rotary file edges. That all works pretty well but it takes a lot of time; and even now I still need to hand file the edges and sand them smooth. All of that takes me about an hour, so I only did one of them this morning.
I still need to set the mill up again to make the tab adjustment slots. Then I still have a bit of hand work on the tabs before I get some of them anodized.black.
I know that I have been very dilatory with this belly pan project for several weeks, but I think that I just had too many pent-up projects in my head that I couldn't help getting involved in after spending so much time on these pans. I'm going to work on a few more of them in regard the to edge finish and tab slots and then paint them and put the listing in my business site here when I have several available. Then I think I can work up a program to fit one or more at a time in my schedule to fill the need from time to time as I do with my other 928 items. I think that there is going to be a small surge of interest in these, but that it will taper off to more occasional interest as time goes on. We will see.

I finally got over the hump so to say about these Belly Pans. That was more of a mental thing than anything else. I got back to finishing a couple of them at their edges and have found what I think is the best way to do that. I'm now using a 4.5 inch flap disc in my grinder that is 36 grit and that is working much better than all the other stuff I tried. It also takes much less time and I think that is what was bothering me so much. I have also deburred all of the 240 mounting tabs I made and am taking them be be annodized today. I think I'll try to finish out the edges of a couple of the pans a day to help work up this first small batch and then start working up the next batch of material I have waiting. As soon as I get at leasst one of these fully finished and painted I'll take some pictures and post the listing in my businell membership.s

Hello Jerry,
I own a 928 S from 1980 and I look for a belly pan as mine is missing. I saw your impressive work on replicating the cover. Are you still manufacturing the covers? Would it fit to my car and would you be willing to sell one to me? I live in Germany and I would try to find more potential buyers via the PFF. That could be a good way to share the shipping costs.
I am looking forward to your answer.
Thanx
Daniel

Hi Daniel in Germany. I could and will ship to Germany and probably anywhere in the world in fact. The only problem is figuring out how to distribute several of these pans shipped together to one or maybe two or even three locations. Who is going to do that and how? A few years ago I had an inquiry from Australia about my 928 Spare Tire Covers and it came from someone involved with their Aus 928 internet network. They were interested in a group buy. They thought maybe 10 or 12 might be interested, but it ended up to be 42. I shiped three or four different packages to that many different locations, and still have no idea how they distributed from each recipient. However, you are right, it saved on the shipping reducing it from about $50 each to less than $20 each which is about what domestic shipments cost at that time. I think the savings will be much greater now and to Europe for the Belly Pan, although quite a bit more on an individual basis because the package is larger and heavier. I have a hunch that maybe about 6 of these in one box may cost $250 to $300 to ship to Europe. Just a gusss. Send me an address and I'll put a package together just to check and see what the cost will be. I'll probably check with FedEx and the Post Office.
I haven't shipped any Belly Pans yet, but I'm going to do a test shipping this weekend to see just what domestic shiping is going to be for jsut one. I hope to be able to use the USPS, but I'm not too sure about the size of my box to ship in. I'm guessling about $50 each domestic.
Hi Scott. This post is in my Rennlist Business Membership. I have both personal and business memberships. I'm not sure just what you mean by my "page," but I guess this might be it. I don't have a web site yet but may at some point.

Hello Jerry,
thanx for your answer.
The location in Germany would be 40597 Düsseldorf. In case of a group order you could send the shipment to me and i would take care to distribute the pans to the other forum members of the PFF. Maybe we should discuss it via PM. I have sent you a friend request in order that we can send private messages.

Wasn't exactly sure do to how this was stated. I have ordered parts from you in the past and have been more than pleased with the quality of workmanship and attention to detail. Didn't know if you might have made a site.
