Default Tyre pressure loss warning

I've had enough of this little bugger now. Problem is that it want both front and rear tyres at 3Bar wich cause the front tyres to wear in the middle.

I got an article from the net a while ago on how to bypass it saying you must put a jumper between pins 2 and 13 on the harness connector. Only problem is I do not know where to find the connector.

Please help

Johan

Funny, we were just discussing this after dinner over coffee during our AZ 928 Desert Shark dinner.

First, inflate your tires so there is no warning showing on the diagnostic pannel.

The RDK module is under the steering wheel, directly above the clutch pedal (or where it would be if yours is an AT). It is P/N 928 618 150 00 or 01. Remove the module and put in the jumpers.

If you still get a diaganostic warning, disconnect the battery for a few minutes.

If you have aftermarket wheels with no sensors , the warning will be there all the time regardless of the pressure in the tyres. On my uk car, the rdk unit is above and to the right of the accelerator pedal. disconnect unit, Pull back rubber boot, Bridge 2 + 13, and leave unit disconnected. Job done.................Jim

Mine "was" underneath steering coumn towards the pass side as I recall. Take it out, jump the pins on connector and you will be happy. If you haven't got it when I return I will send a pic. It was bigger than I expected.

Default Low tire warning

I did mine last summer and it's a pleasure driving without that stupid warning coming on. Last summer before I did this I was out of my mind zeroing this thing every ten miles.

Unless the 90 is different from the 91 the RDK module is NOT under the steering wheel. It's in the left side kick panel above your foot. You'll need a trained contortionist to get at it, but it's a simple and VERY rewarding job to get rid of the damn thing.

The fronts should only want 2.5 bar (36psi) instead of 3. If your fronts definitely want 3.0 bar then you might have the wrong sensors in the front wheels. The 3.0's are for the rear only.

Also, check your owners manual for the warning descriptions and reset procedure for the RDK......you might just have a bad sensor(s). The reset
procedure will clear the RDK module and get you started from square one again.

Most people seem to hate this system, but I find that once understood it really works quite well........I know it does on mine.

On my '91 the RDK is under the steering wheel. See the following for a picutre.

Looks, to me, like your RDK is on the left kick panel same as mine was. To me, "under the steering wheel" means on the firewall.

That's why a picture is work a thousand words.

How about - "toward the driver above the clutch pedal?"

It is under the steering column then. Is that acceptable?

Thanks guys if I can't fix it with this kind of help I should not own a shark.
One thing though, there seems to be a resistor of some kind in the bypass line, what resistance/ color code is it and is it really necessary?

incredible how the digital camera not to mention the net changed things.

I specifically appreciate the neatness of the mod as shown in the photos it shows that you really care for and deserve to own your sharks.

I would prefer to keep the sensors working as some of you suggested thats why I've been living with them for about 18months now. When I inflate all tyres to 3bar they work perfectly and only seems to be misled when encountering rain or water in the road while hot and then only for a while. Problem is I just had to replace my front tyres due to the over inflation.

I'm going to bypass the rdk for now but I will in future replace the front wheel sensors and then put it back to work.
