Playing with the idea of a supercharger installation...

I hope to be able to get a supercharger installed in my 928 within a year or so and am slowly scraping up funds enough to get it done.
Since I doubt that my mechanic skills would be enough for such a task I need help to get it installed, preferably by someone who has done these things before. I am very impressed with what I've read about Tim Murphy's kit and like the ideas Gretch has brought up about how to make it look as stock-like as possible.
When sending stuff from the US to Sweden there is also a 35% cost of the products (10% customs and 25% VAT) - if you bring stuff as luggage while travelling yourself you can walk straight through the customs without declaring anything.
If you combine all of these things, you will soon get the impression that it would be a good idea to have someone who knows about SC installations and perhaps has done an installation of the Tim Murphy Kit who can spare two weeks (or any amount of time needed) for a trip to Sweden on my behalf..
If there is someone willing to do this who has the skill required and am willing to bring the necessary hardware as extra luggage it will still be cheaper than sending the items.
Is there anyone here on the 928-list who could consider doing such a thing in the near future?
Just pondering with the idea here, no real plans made yet.. But wouldn't a free trip to Sweden (with an open return date perhaps?), food and housing be a fair trade for help to turn my GT into a blown beast?
I can arrange housing in the Malmö area for two people for an almost unlimited amount of time.

I think you would need multiple "mules" as there is considerable weight and bulk to the complete kit. You could get by with an approach that imports the pulleys, AWIC, down pipe, bracket and blower, and maybe the breather apparatus. The rest of the stuff you can prolly acquire locally, maybe including the blower as that is off the shelf Vortech.
Think about it, I could use a trip to Sweden.......What airline are you flying me on and can I bring the wife?

Gretch, can you do a rough estimation on how much the kit weighs, with and without the standard parts that you can buy from any hardware store?
I could of course get the standard parts here in Europe and only get the special made parts brought over by a "carrier".
I don't know about which airline, haven't looked that far into the details.
Sure bring the wife, don't book anything yet though..

I think I can ship a kit over to you for say, $1000? Then when we finish installing it, you can pay my labor fee of the balance.
Which airlines should I consider best?
And how far is it from the Porsche factory???

It's pretty far from Stuttgart - a 10 hour drive according to www.mapquest.com - 718 miles to be exact.
The Nürburgring is along the way..

It would still make sense to have someone come over and do the installation since shipping is awfully expensive compared to what you can get flight tickets for. And I need a hand to get the job done, I could of course ask my mechanic/friend who is very skilled with work on Porsches but it would cost quite a bit when the hours add up.
There is also that very small risk that the customs office investigates the actual cost of what's in the package and you get to pay a whole lot more.

............But a LOT closer than Wisconsin is to Stuttgart. Or any other state. 10 hour drive to see the home land is perfectly acceptable to me.

Anders,
The only valuable item with a clear market value would be the Vortech, which you should buy locally or from eBay, etc.
Most of the rest of the items are custom fabricated things that are only worth what you tell them they are worth...

Sweanders,
I would be up for the trip as well. I've been to Copenhagen once before and had a great time. I'll even buy my own ticket and the Tuborg! (if you can put me up someplace cheap). I'd be willing to help out as a third hand, if you want someone who has installed a SC before. Or we can learn together as a Murphy kit is probably in my near future.
