Often, the only way you know if you have one is if you accidentally set it off. That's how I discovered mine.

The biggest tell is the length of the key. There are 'long' and 'short' keys.

There was a recent thread about the keys:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...red-key-2.html
Post 22 has a pic of the two key lengths.

OP: Do you remember if there was a long key for the car? If so, you had the alarm.
I remember there were 8 Keys total for the car when we bought it. 4 valet keys 2 Black ignition keys and 2 red. To my recollection all were the same length.

If needed, I could do others extracts.

If you have good relationships with a Porsche dealer, it could also help, because they could check the colors (inside and outside) of the cars of a list. Sadly, we don't have theses colors into our database.

That would be great. I was thinking of adding the cars that had an alarm. The dealer did also say that the Garnet red and burgundy interior was not a popular combo in the euro spec. So I'm hopeful it will get narrowed down quickly. There is a service advisor and a sales guy that have both been extremely helpful.

ok 928cs one of the 8 VIN's you gave, one me came back as the right color. Can you please pull the VINs that had an alarm as well? My dad thinks that the keys were different lengths.

Start by checking the colors.

Good luck.

Sometimes the euros had a plate installed that had name of the man woman or child for whom it was imported. Remember any such nameplate?

Also euro would have been federalized. This required documents be filed at federal agency, was it DOT? We've seen other examples here of cooperation by that agency to confirm importation records on these old ones. Never without vin. But do you recall any plate that referenced importer or federalizer or name above? Just a thought. Maybe there's a pre computer reverse lookup possible via that route?

Thank you Sir! I send that to them and see if any of the colors match.

I dont recall any nameplate on the car. Do you know where they typically put them? I certain it was not under the hood or the door sill's I use to detail it with my dad every 2-3 weeks.

WOW, that's awesome. Quite a few Carolina 928s. We have a small SC based group but there are some other guys around Charlotte too.

Is one of Jeff's cars that he and his kids bring to SITM a red one like we're looking for? Is Chuck Z still in that area?
