I also wouldn't be put off by a little invasive work. The repaint is not great.

Light Blue Metallic is 30T, or "Hellblau".

I can't say with 100% certainty that there are 30T MY78 928s. But, I can say that it was available and used for MY78 P cars.

Take the painted cowl scuttle panel off. You'll have to pull the wipers, plus left and right windshield closeout trim to do it. Take a picture of the exposed firewall section. Cleaning may be necessary. I'd be surprised if it's GP white under there given the exterior paint quality.

Can't verify that the car from the link is actually MY78, but I wouldn't be surprised.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hellblau was available as a standard color in '78 and that the Porsche information was incomplete. There have been enough instances on other things (i.e. COAa) where Porsche data is incorrect.

However, as for 811, the Porsche color booklet does list if for MY 84.

Nate, that brings up another point. Separate resources have different information. One of my resources from Porsche has 811 as MY85+. Other resources have it as MY83-84 exclusive. Neither are correct with regard to that color.

Do you have evidence that hellblau was available in 1978?

Here a 30T '78 911 with a VIN..

https://www.legendcarcompany.com/197...arga-c-166.htm

Note that Rennbow also has 30T for MY79-82 only for 911s. There are quite a few "Hellblau" or "Light Blue Metallic" MY78 cars shown on the 911 Registry, though.

Beautiful color! I hope that yours is originally 30T.

Yes, the patch by the license plate definitely looks metallic.

It seems my production date (5/78) and production number (3011) don't align with the known sequence. The prod number is much later than the serial # would suggest, supporting the idea that it is a special color that delayed it's production! I have a PPS coming in a few weeks which should confirm this. Stay tuned!!
