Default CANCELLED: Camp 928 -- June 18-20, 2020

Update: the answer is in, and the date for the next Camp 928 will be June 18-21, 2020.

Last year's thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...16-2019-a.html

The 2020 edition of Camp 928 will take place ... I don't know when! I set a date initially by the usual "subtract 1 from the date" method - wait: 2 days due to leap year. But 2020 seems to be a year where some things are jumping forward 5 days. The big Lake George motorcycle rally and Woof Stock are -2, but the school year is +5. That provides two possible weekends - the weekend of the 13th or the 20th.

I'm inclined to choose June 18-21 - a bit warmer and more time for black fly season to fully pass.

If it makes a difference to you, I'd like to hear from you. I'll consider how nice your car is, or how much help it needs. I'll also consider your fire-making skills and the beer you've left behind in the past.

Nancy and I enjoy it so much, maybe we'll have both a prime and a secondary weekend.

June 18-21 would be my preferred dates: just enough time after SITM that I can catch my breath.

Ah - that's right - I forgot I've always tried to separate these events. I'd have it later except it gets busy after schools let out.

Man I'd love to attend. Getting out there from Seattle in my 928 may not be feasible. More based on the time off I'd have to take. That weekend is Father's Day which actually may be better for those dad's otherwise in need of a hall pass.

I'm from Pittsburgh originally so I might float this past my dad as a father-son weekend trip. The drive from Pitt would be fun. Would just need to find a cool car to rent. Maybe by then someone will have their Taycan Turbo S on Turo. Lol

At any rate count me as a very interested maybe. And Curt thank you and you wife for putting Camp 928 together. Even not being there I've really enjoyed reading about the activities each year.

That sounds like an excellent plan. However you got here, you could use the Saab for the weekend - do I remember correctly that you have one?

Incidentally, the manager of my local Porsche dealer bought a 928S recently, and promises to come up next year. But do we need to see his 928? Maybe not if he has something new available that will blow us away, perhaps electric. Bring your checkbook.

I'm in either way, but having Dave there is a bonus. He certainly sets a faster pace for the Newcomb run than I could manage.

Count another "highly interested" potential participant for next year. A fortuitous constellation should make a trip out East possible.

Oh. Ya. This Camp 928 is non-optional for me LOL.

If this is going to be a Trial by Combat I nominate Tuomo to be our 928 Champion. Hopefully his 928 will be back from Doctor Kunninstein by then. If his 928 hasn't yet been named, I dub it The Mountain. (GoT reference: "Who am I fighting?" "Does it matter?" <shakes head no>)

So... that means the troopers didn't stop you?

Hmm? I need to get out more. You have me thinking about James Joyce. Maybe all I need is HBO.

The Studebaker, of course. You got something to make it smell nice, too? BTW, the Camp 928 Clubhouse has gotten so badly trashed by that project that I'm moving it to the back of the studio. Except for the engine rebuild (argh).

But perhaps you can polish up Alex's Magic Bus if he brings it, which he certainly should.

Assume Tumo's Mountain gets to perform ex vitro, here's a graphic demonstration of wait awaits anything that challenges it.

So if Tuomo's car is the Mountain then who's is the Hound?

Where at in Pittsburgh? I grew up outside of West Newton (south of the city near New Stanton).

A reasonable question. Another reasonable question would be: At what point do we reach this analogy's elastic limit
