Gauge pod options
Does anyone have recommendations for two hole gauge pods? I've been contemplating mounting options. I'm partial to something that hangs off of the side of the center console, but I am open to other options. Especially if it is made specifically for the 928.
I the same vein, what is a good color match paint for the cashmere interior? So that I can paint the pod to match my leather.

I won't be modifying the clock panel for two reasons. One, it puts the gauges so low that it would be dangerous to be monitoring them while driving. Two, I have my rear HVAC controls there and I don't want to move them. I want to keep the car as stock as possible so that it is easy to remove or hide the gauges for display purposes.
I've considered mounting a 10" Windows tablet and doing digital gauges. That would enable me to run the SharkTuner as well. But, I think that might be a bit much.
The A-pillar gauge pods that 928 Motorsports had looked like a great option, but they haven't had them for a long time. I'm not sure if anything off the shelf would work. Fabricating one out of steel might be an option for me.
Right now, I'm considering making up a backing plate and mounting bracket for an off the shelf style of two gauge pod that is designed to sit on top of the dash. But, I would mount it sideways next to the center console. Maybe even with a u-channel to sort of hook over the the lip of the side of the center console. Another option would be to use one of those CD player mounts that fit nicely into the seam of my dash above the center console. That would make it very quick and easy to remove.
Whatever I end up doing, I want to paint it to match the interior leather so that it doesn't jump out at you when you look in the car. My interior is 100% color matched leather (dash, pod, console, ceiling, rear fenders, everything). Anything black sticks out like a sore thumb.

Something like the below. Make a base plate for it to bolt to. The base plate would have extensions/holes/etc to mount to existing holes on the car. Turn the entire thing sideways so it is on the right/passenger side of the center console. Paint it to match the leather. It would be decent enough to stay there most of the time, but easy enough to remove quickly.

"it would be dangerous to be monitoring them while driving"
Agreed...but still not a bad place.
They're to be referenced as part of a scan, not monitored, and clocked so that "normal" leaves the needle in a recognizable "normal" position.

I removed my ashtray and mounted wideband O2 and boost/vac gauges down there, along with some USB charging ports. As mentioned, you're not staring at them all the time and can glimpse down to see AFR #s or boost #s pretty quickly. I put my knocklink light in a higher unused pod switch (rear wiper) since my convertible doesn't have one. That way I can see if it blinks from green to flashing red just out of the corner of my eye.
I had actually purchased 928MS last A-pillar gauge panel pods during my Spyder build a few years ago. I then sent it to William Jewett to recover as part of the dash project I had paid him for and the f**ker stole that from me too, never returning it or the damaged dash I sent back to him (https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...l#post16107907).

guys at custom car audio places that build custom speaker enclosures could probably build just about anything you can envision and make it look decent...

Below is a photo of what I settled on. It's not as integrated looking as everyone else's. And it's not as slick looking as a bluetooth/phone connected version. But, it meets the criteria that I had:
1) Comes on when the car comes on without having to do anything else.
2) Easily visibly from the driver's seat without having to move my eyes far from the road.
3) Easy to remove/hide if I am displaying the car.
With one suction cup it can be placed in the passenger footwell. With two plugs it can be completely removed and put away.

Yes, I took the two disparate gauges (Innovate vacuum/boost gauge and Speedhut AFR gauge) and reworked their wires so that they come together at the gauge on the right, and then travel down the split loom with the minimum number of wires. The split loom follows the bottom curve of the dash next to the center console and goes into the footwell area behind the carpet and kick panel. They aren't in a passenger's way at all.
