Default '95 GTS Workshop Manual

HI Guys,

Still picking away at my headlight problems on my GTS. Mr. Merlin pointed me to Roger Taylor at 928rus.com to get a WSM, but I am not having any luck. Anybody have another suggestion where to pick one up? I see a bunch from Ebay, but I am not convinced they would be the way to go...

Thanks,

Michael G

Mrmerlin was probably directing you toward Roger Tyson to purchase a copy of the 'Morehouse' CD set.

Why not throw the the issue out to this community? A lot easier to navigate than the WSM. I very rarely use the WSM. Being a paid member helps getting responses

Buccione,

There is a thread out there already on the problem.

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...w-problem.html

Let me know if you have any experience with it.

Thanks,

Alright, it took forever, but thanks to a sourced Headlight relay out of an S4 wrecker, it worked. The headlights are fine. Took the whole car apart to figure it out, but moral of the story is... the replacement Headlight Relays available today are utter ****E!!!!!! I don't even know how to approach the company that makes them, because pretty much their entire run are crap. Really annoying. At least I can be sure ALL my grounds are CLEAN!

Now to put her back together....

Was this - these? - relay sourced from one of our 928-speciality vendors? Or did you find it on craigslist?

Worf,

I sourced it from 928 International in California. It came off a dismantled S4 I believe. They tested it before they sent it. The New stuff (Wittrin, I think?) does not work - at least not on my car.... but general consensus among even the sellers is the new stuff is hit and miss.

You didn’t answer my question: From what source did you get new relays that didn’t work?

It came from Ebay I am pretty sure, but I can't find the purchase in my history.

Did you mean to send a link to a relay in the initial post?

Ah. Ok. That is what I figured.

If you’d ordered a new relay from Mark, Roger, or Jeannie and got multiple bad ones I would have been shocked.

A lot of folks just starting to dig into their 928s learn the lesson that the cheap parts found on e-bay (etc.) are cheap for a reason and that parts from known sources like Mark (928 International), Roger (928sRUs), and Jeannie (928 Specialists) are sometimes more expensive but 99.9% of the time the parts actually work.

It matters if your time has value.

Absolutely,

I went to them first, but the part was not available. Mark put me on a list for when something appropriate came in to him. Fortunately, it came in right before Covid hit.
