'95 GTS Replaced Headlight Relay, new problem...
Hi Guys,
Just got my car back from an engine rebuild - I do not think this has anything to do with my problem, but I am throwing it out there anyway... I took her out one night, and I had no Headlights, only the driving lights in the bumper which brightened with the high beam stalk. The headlight pods raise and lower properly, and the headlight motor contacts are clean. After reading up on the problem here on Rennlist, all indicators pointed towards a faulty relay (the big, expensive one) - except that the car would occasionally throw a tail light fault code, even though all the tail lights worked.
I ordered a new relay, installed it and the lights worked perfectly. So, I took the car out a few nights later. As soon as the revs hit 3200 - 3250, the headlights would flicker and shut down. When my revs dropped below the same amount, the lights come back on. When I got home, I left the car stationary and revved the engine to 3200, and the lights flickered and turned off. Dropping below the 3200 mark, the lights work fine, however, the car threw the tail light fault light once again.
Anyone have any ideas?

Check tightness:
of battery ground strap
jump post
starter connection
(do last two with battery disconnected or be very, very careful.)
Check for engine ground strap presence and tightness at both ends.

rear warning light Warning is most likely either a side marker connector along the hatch floor thats corroded or the bulb holder is corroded,
or the third brake lamp bulb.
NOTE make sure that the bulbs in either of the tail lamps are a match for each position, if they dont match buy new bulbs and replace both sides for position

Andy,
Looks like its a faulty replacement relay. We pinned all the circuits, and no loss of signal at revs. We then jumped the headlights, High and low, and same result. Vertex is sending a replacement this week, I will update the results.
