I just got my monthly Pano in the mail today, and the Editor's Note is very near and dear to our hearts - teaser - "Big, muscular, V-8 powered, it (the 928) was indisputably, the best car in the world throughout much of its 1978-1995 model run." It only gets better from there
Rob is a great guy and I'm happy he's the editor for Pano. And he's a big fan of the 928!
I was on the hunt for him for an early pasha car, then he went and bought himself a 924. We really need to get him into a 928!
Great article, The only thing I disagree with is the need for back seats. To me luggage capacity is more important than those silly vestigial seats I never use!
But then again, my taste is a bit unusual
Imagine a modern Pasha interior! I'm thinking a "Geneva Show Car" approach ordering session with the exclusive department! Guards Red withWhite LEATHER! Totally impractical...
OR- Classic GT Silver with black and white stitched leather, heated and cooled 18 way pasha sport seats, black leather dash with white stitching, Burmester, black upper doors with pasha inserts and white carpets with deviating stitching - black leather edged floor mats.
Leather everywhere - Including Whips, Chains and Studs so I can get me some - - - Sadist Traction!
At least 700 HP with AWD and no goofy overstyled names - cause all the good ones are taken! Its a 928!!!

I like the article too and appreciate the enthusiasm and model exposure. I also think the panamera models are kind of cool. But disagree with idea of using the panamera platform to re-do the 928. The illustrated rendering is awfully uninspired and it's so not worthy of the #s 928. The 928 was ahead of its time and designed with passion. That 2dr panamera is so distant from everything 928. The body panels are gross, the doors in particular look like they were stamped out at a big rig manufacturing facility and then trimmed by a golf cart factory. No pronounced B pillar. Rear quarters windows are all wrong. Gross. Bring the 928 back yes, but as stated, make it the standard-bearer. Something the world hasn't seen yet, in every way. Not some shrunken soccer wagon. Booo if that rendering came out of the Porsche factory, the other named marques would ROTFLMAO. Any "new" 928 should make them rethink everything.
At a local cafe tonight, I overheard two guys chatting about my 928, they dug it, knew it was a Porsche, but couldn't figure out even what decade it was from. I heard the 80s? 99? I though to myself .... "That should be the goal of Porsche if they were to resurrect the 928 emblem, a car conceived in the early 70s, mistaken for a '99."
I do like the article though so thanks to Mr. Sass

!]
You sir, have some issues...and I am impressed!
There was a road sign at the bottom of Alta & Snowbird Utah's Little Cottonwood Canyon road that said "NO Chains or Studs". We used to take a big black sharpie and write "WHIPS" on it every couple of years and wonder how many people "got it". Sadist traction that is...
Anyhow, back to the new 928. It better have the ignition switch, button, key or whatever they decide to use - - - on the left - - - where it belonged int he first place!
A good article for us owners of the real thing. But there will be no vanilla, sorta-928, simply shortened Panamera - that would be looking backward, too niche in the wrong direction.
Imagine a redux on the full theme of the 928 – a replacement for the aging 911. Something as dramatic and futuristic as the 928 was. Electric, of course.

Right? Not only electric, but full-blown AI. In Prussian Blue of course
Love and cherish what ya have, cause Porsche will never build another production version of the 928. They may build a specialty car like the GT, or 918. It would take all of Porsche's assets, to build a clean sheet car today.
