Default Werks Reunion Monterey 2019

11 cars in class, 7 928s.

Charlie and his son from OC brought, their GT, Dennis came with a sweet Euro S..the couple next to me brought their sweet red 86.5 again from Sacramento, (i suck at names), a special project from LA came up (Rob Edwards knows who it was), another sweet early car in Pascha was there...and im still missing one..long day, much sunburn. There was a great triple black 968 cab there, that Dr Porsche and his wife picked from the field for an award and came by..and a few other 944s.

A really nice Ruby Red 944 won first, I pulled 2nd, and the LA car Rob knows..(they left immediately after judging) got third.

I won last year, would have been fine with 3 others..just wasnt preparing to be a show year this year, so it was a welcome surprise to see the judges cart wander alllllll the way down 11 cars to hand me 2nd place.

Congratulations on the showing, Jeff! That 944 must have been really nice to take the blue ribbon. Wish I could have been there with the LA car. William sent me this pic from early in the day.

Great job!

I've been following that Silver 928 for some time and am happy/relieved to see that it is now completed!

More photos would be appreciated.

Rob and William were miracle workers on this project. They literally were handed a tub with buckets of hardware. I can't tell you how many times Rob stopped by to get an odd bracket or some obscure part I had never sold in 30 years.

Rob - where did you get that rubber heat shield? Is it correct for early cars?

Good eye, Ed! All the firewall insulation is NLA, and this car came without any insulation at all.

Fortunately in January, Mark got '78 #143, which he kindly put in the back corner of the alley at 928Intl, and we picked a bunch of missing bits off of it, including its firewall insulation. It was in rough shape:

So I got a second donor insulation piece from Mark, and spliced the two together.

Overlaid the two, and cut along the red line, then spliced the two together.

Cut, joined, and installed. Ugly, but functional and correct-ish, and you only see the top few inches with the engine and air cleaner in place.

Great result given the fact that it was complete unobtanium and now is as near to original as possible.
