That hot point cover should have been coloured red from the factory.

Nice common sense upgrade Jer bear.

Is the cap red to show its hot, or to match the paint? Can I have one in white please, if the latter? Will order one next time I can justify the postage to Oz.

Jerry, you are the penultimate entrepeneur. I'm really glad you're on our side

If I didn't have an old, crispy, ready to break at a moment's notice, stock cap for my '85, I'd order yours in a heartbeat. As it is, it may take me a day or two...

Best Regards,

I never listed these for sale in this thread because I had closed my small business membership. So, I can only discuss this with you outside of this Forum. So, send me an email.

I should have bumped this thread in my Sponsorship Membership before Xmas because this would have made a perfect stocking gift to yourself. I still have several of these kits available. I am selling them in this membership for $45 shipped domestically. You can contact me here or by email at Jfeather@bresnan.net, which is my paypal email, or at 928redesign@gmail.com. I can ship forthwith. Jerry Feather

I of course made mine out of ABS plastic and a bit heavier than the factory item. I moved it forward about a half inch and rounded it at the corners. Then I put some cool looking fins or ribs on the inboard face of it. I beefed it up further inside, mainly by adding the flange(s) on top to go over the inner edge of the fender, and I put a fairly thick doubler under the mounting hole. That makes the Cover cover more of the jump post so I had to devise and fabricate a new Jump Post Cap out of red Acetal with the correct metric threads in an insert pressed into it. Then I redesigned the cap lanyard so it is more purpose intended than the original one appears. Here are some pictures of what I came up with. jfeather@bresnan.net

This original Thread was pretty much informational only in that I did not offer this kit for sale when I did the thread. However, now I am offering this kit to Rennlist Members and Users for $45 shipped domestically. The only caveat is that this kit will work in the early 928s that have the push on Cap, but only if you source a Jump Post that has the threaded stud on it as with the later cars. My Cap will not push on successfully. You can paypal to me at:

jfeather@bresnan.net.

I ordered a genuine Porsche jump post cover and cap two years ago from my local Porsche store, cost +/- $15.00 IIRC.
