Default Does anybody know this car on Ebay?

1983 928 5-spd

Owner says it needs a clutch and windshield.

Anyone know anything about this car? Price is still pretty low.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm considering bidding.

Thanks
Dave

Dave the price for clutch parts has gone UP especially the intermediate plate ; parts alone could be over $1,000 .. depending on how bad the clutch really is .

No sh*t Jim. My intermediate is floating all over the place, less than 15k on it. So, do I just grind every 3rd or 4th shift or spend the $$ on a clutch job?

Like Cheech said, gring'em till it fits!

has anyone looked at a replacement clutch disc, as an example what size is the TT shaft, how many splines? what is the diameter of the disc, how wide is the friction area.

the reason I ask is they want $300+ for a 944/931 clutch disc when a ford mustang and bronco uses the same size disc and the splines are the same too, and the fords disc is about $45 CDN

Jim, thanks for the info.

How tough of a job is it to replace the clutch on an 83?

I'll have some time before spring to get everything sorted out...

Thanks
Dave

I asked. The guy isn't responding to my emails.

Something doesn't seem right...

So, it looks like I won't be bidding after all....

Thanks for everyone's help.

Total time for R and R of a clutch is really maybe 3 hours IF all goes well . if the clutch shaft is welded to the pilot bearing it gets worse . If you have never done one it can easily take much longer BUT it is far easier than a 944 clutch because the central torque tube stays in the car all work is done through the removable lower bell housing cover .

You'd at least need a picture of the engine bay. IMHO of course.
