I'm not sure there's much point in FLAC anymore.. the only benefit of FLAC over WAV is compression, and that's largely irrelevant these days due to the cheap cost of storage these days. *If* you don't stream over spotify or similar, then you can just drop in a 512GB or 1TB SSD in a usb enclosure (in the glovebox via rear USB) and have plenty of storage for 600+ albums in uncompressed lossless CD-quality.
You can easily enough bulk-convert your FLAC collection to WAV as its just a decompression - the FLAC utilities will do it.

Kahled, I know my prior posts were critical of the whole business model of branding. But, the radio certainly does look good installed! Also, the hardware looks to be pretty solid.
I agree with what somebody else said, "It is a better solution than the Porsche Classic solution with the GPS mini-display." Probably it's the overall best drop-in solution given the fact that analog radio will be shut off at some time in the future.
On the coding issues, my iTunes library is set-up in AAC and AIFF. I believe I read that the radio supports neither AAC, AIFF nor FLAC. I will not recode all my music to use such a radio, but if you can plug the iPad or Ipod in it would not be a show stopper.
Enjoy! We all look forward to your user reports!!!

I guess I could just make a playlist of all my songs and burn them to MP3s. I have never done that. Would be much easier to just copy the files directly to a memory stick. But, like I said, that is not a show stopper for using this deck. We can alway hook an iPod up to the USB or stream via an iPad.

Hey guys,
Like I said earlier, most of all new electronics today are made/assembled somewhere in SE Asia, it is just a matter of checking the product out if it is of good build quality or now. So far so good with this new system and considering the use model/case I think it will be ok for a while.
With respect to music playback, I have been using Bluetooth Streaming from my Apple Music (Both streaming channels and Library) with no issues at all and I think this is the most efficient setup. The radio does support AUX in as well as SD Card and USB (which i think are all on their way out).
Last, it really looks the part as something that would have come with the car in the same era and i really like the minimalist approach to things, so this fits well.

Hilton, you are right about FLAC, but my point still stands, we still do not know which formats of digital music this unit supports and I am worried that it will only support crappy ones like MP3 and WMA. Those are the only 2 formats mentioned in the documentation and there is no exhaustive list.

By the way how on earth do people cope with the utter utter crapness that is the Rennlist website... type a reply, hit "quick reply" button and spawn a whole new editing window with no content that you can't get rid of. Would be hard to design it worse if you were trying to

wow.. looks right at home. If I could steam music without a wire and have a head unit looking as near period as that.. I'm sold.
Thanks for the pics and write up

So how are the tests of this device going? There is something I find addictive talking about car audio, despite the fact that I have RMBs on my 928s rendering virtually any audio set-up more-or-less worthless... :-)

was that 332 pounds all in? I will be over in Europe in the spring and wonder if I should just grab it then vs shipping costs... also in Canada
