!@#@#! (anyone have a used fender FS?)
Well, my 928 just had a close (very close) encounter with the rear end of another car. A guy in a SUV stopped to make a left hand turn without signaling.
The woman in front of me slammed on her brakes, and then I slammed on mine.
The car just didn't have enough time to slow down, and there was traffic coming the other direction so I couldn't swerve to miss her. The front of the 928 slid under her car. When it was all said and done, her rear tire was on the front of my bumper.
So after a laughing police officer showed up, we drove her car off of mine. I had the 928 towed home, but I believe the damage is all cosmetic. There are no fluids leaking, the engine started and runs fine, and I didn't hear any strange noises when I backed it up in my driveway. I'm going to go over it more closely tomorrow and look for any damage. Is there any part of the car the I should pay extra attention to? I'm hopeful that all I'll need is a new fender and a new headlight pod (the headlights were on) and then some paint work.
So, if anyone has a rt. fender or a headlight pod for sale, let me know.

One more point, knock on wood, but the 928 came through this amazingly well.
When the accident happened, I was expecting the worst. When we finally drove the other car off of mine, I was amazed that there wasn't more damage.
I don't even want to think about how my Lotus would have fared...

I have no doubt that the Hummer would have totalled her car... I guess it was a good thing that I was in the 928; although, I feel dirty even thinking that.

I wish I could help you, but the fender I had was stolen, as were a few other 928 parts I had this past summer from the car we parted out.

Here are a couple of pictures of the damage. I just got the estimate for the Saturn that I hit. It's going to cost me $2300, so I don't think that the 928 did too badly.

BTW. I'm still looking for a used fender!

Hey Gary,
I have replied....
You should check the area very carefully to be certain that you don't need any other parts.
I say this because you will be paying "dimensional weight" to receive this fender. So it would be in your best interest (shipping wise) to try and include some extra parts to the package.
I would get in there and check other parts of your headlight mechanism. It looks a little "crunchy"!
Cheers

Gary,
Check with ABC Auto Parts in Leominster. The last time I was there they had a few 928's in stock. In fact my old car was dismanteled there.
