Default 928S4 Video Al Holbert

There was a discussion on this earlier. I looked at my CD version on the computer and the marketing is quite interesting.

They show the 928 with and without mirrors on the salt flats. They also show Al driving up and taking his helmet off. It makes you think he just finished his 171mph run and then you notice the 928 has mirrors.

I forgot who, but someone on Renn has Al's original 928. Was there more than one 928 used or is it the same one for each shot? Seems to me it might be like the Back to the Future movie where you can see they used an automatic and also a 4 speed

It might just be the lighting or the angle of the photographs, but in those pictures above it sure looks like one has tinted windows and the other doesn't. It also looks like the one on the right has no marker lights in the fender in front of the front wheel. Yet another thing is that the one on the right appears to have clear lenses or something next to the fog lights, where the one on the left has the black rubber pieces there. Is there a hood badge on the one on the right?

If I'm not mistaken, Mark Kibort has this car and is racing it now. Maybe he can shed some light here.

Check with Fredis'...the Latvian Porsche Owners Club has the bulk of the
Al Holbert video available (minus 1 or 2 segments)...

Car on left in Jerry's picture is US model and car on right is euro. I think what happened is that factory brought white very early euro S4 to salt flats. It was quickly painted red to make it look better on white stuff. Mirrors were removed, suspension lovered as low as it goes etc to prep it for high speed run. Rest of tape including some salt scenes were shot with other car, regular originally red US model mirrors in place and all. Is Kibort's car US or euro? Maybe it's US but it didn't have US model front wings back then.

See earlier discussion about the tape including link to Porsche Club Latvia site.

I didnt notice the Euro version and US version but I see it now. Still wonder how many were used.

Below is one of the best know pictures from the video and it is a US version.
