I did it!!! Here's my New Project
I found an 89 5 speed with 63k miles on it. Super Happy!!
I'm a fairly good mechanic so i'm ready for some projects to get this car all updated and reliable.
I already have one thing to do first,
While driving it home the brakes on all 4 calipers are dragging quite badly. So it looks like I'm checking out the calipers and master cylinder.

It is an 89 S4. But if you look at the options I thing the were trying to GT it. Only sunroof, Side moldings and Rear air. Either that or the dealership that ordered it was trying to make it as inexpensive as possible.
So weird story, I live in a town of only about 2500 homes. I had been looking for a 928 for quite some time and I'm on my way to work one day and low and behold here is a gold 89 928 in my rear view mirror. So I knew that it had to be from this one section of town, next day I do a little driving around on my way to work and HOLY CRAP - 2-928's are in this drive way a white one and a gold one. A van pulls into the drive way to I get out and ask the lady about the 2 cars, she says they are her husbands and he is going to sell the white one. So she gives her husband my phone number and I find out it a 5 speed. So I'm out, It's probably going to go for way too much money for me for a weekend fun car. Later that week I go over and talk and under the hood of the gold one is an LT3 corvette engine. What are the chances of 2 928's like these in one driveway. Crazy. I ask about the price he wants on the 5 speed and I get a number that is VERY reasonable (If I told you I'd have to kill you ). Any way,,, props to my wife for negotiating a deal with him for the car and I only had to drive it home a half of a mile. And yes I realize this is one of those VERY LUCKY times that just doesn't come along but once in a lifetime.
Really one of the reason I wanted a 928 was how helpful everyone seemed on RL. I have a 93 BMW 525 that was my daily driver for a long time and the BMW forums are very friendly and helpful and It seem like of all the cars in the world that the 928 and BMW forums are the friendliest and most helpful. It really is a very cool car, You just don't see them hardly at all on road anymore. Even when they were new you just didn't see them that often.

Scott,
Great find and score! Extra plus to your wife for supporting your interest in 928's. Utah is a great state to own a Shark as it can eat up those large distances between towns.
Enjoy!

SCORE ! Nice job.
When you start looking into the dragging brakes, another possibility if the rubber flex lines are very old is that they have swollen internally and putting pressure on the caliper pistons or not allowing fluid to flow back easily when you let off the brakes, making them drag. If those lines are old, it's a good opportunity to upgrade them to braided stainless with Teflon cores and the protective plastic shielding around the outside to prevent abrasion. That will be a once and done repair. Make sure the versions you buy are DOT approved.

Hi Scott,
Great find! White 928s are a favorite of mine and that it is a 1989 5-Speed is icing on the cake for you, congratulations!
Know Alpine, Utah very well since I had a friend who lived there with his family while we were working together in SLC in the early 90s. We trained together for the St. George Marathon in and around Alpine for our LSD runs. Really cool vibe in Alpine back then, hope it hasn't grown up too much.
Enjoy the 928, you really did get one of the best examples of the 928.
Cheers.
