Default Engine sticker - Austausch Remanufactured In Canada

What does this sticker mean? Yes, I know "austausch" translates to exchange. But "exchange" would mean "new", right? But remanufactured would mean rebuilt, as in "not new". I have searched as best I can and this sticker seems to be the only one of its kind. Has anyone ever seen one of these? Maybe one of our Canadian 928 owners has some insight.

Could be that someone had their engine rebuilt in Canada. Not too sure myself. It definitely isn't a factory Porsche sticker though!

Austauschmotor is the German expression for a remanufactured replacement engine.

I purchased a defective (thrust bearing failure) S4-Austauchmotor or factory remanufactured engine a number of years ago. Taking the engine apart I noticed the following.
All cylinders had alu-sil sleeves installed (resleeved engine block).
The pistons were of the newer design same as for the GTS engine.
The crankshaft was reground undersize for both the mains and the rod bearings.
The connecting rods of the newer same design as for the GTS.
The cylinder heads seems to have been replaced by new ones at the factory.
The waterpump same thing.
The engine block was stamped AT and the engine number. AT stands for Austauch (replacement).

I don't see an AT or ATR stamp. Just a regular M28/13...serial number.

Since the sticker is attached to the water pump, I'd think that you have a rebuilt water pump, done in Canada.....

That would make sense. I dug back through the service records and found a line item on a receipt from 1998 for "Water Pump O/E Rebuilt". From looking at the records after that it seems that might be the last time the water pump was addressed. Thanks so much!

A few years ago a company in London, Ontario rebuilt Porsche water pumps. Mine lasted for 5 years and then I changed it out for a new one during a TB job. It was still good when I changed it. Can't remember who though.

Hey, just came across this thread after doing a google search.
Im working on a 944 turbo, and while cleaning the engine Bay wtih the intake off I came across a similar sticker near the back of the block. same circular "logo" as that but a bit different, and the one I have DEFINITELY says "ENGINE remanufactured" and a serial number. Im not near the car as I type this, but will post a picture shortly and see if there is any "AT" stamped anywhere.
