Default Maxilite Cup-Style Rims for 928

Hi everyone,

I've been looking for new rims for my '86 S and '87 S4. The '86 has turbo-twists (7 inches in the front, 11 inches in the rear) and there is a really uncomfortable tram-lining effect when I drive. The '87 has 19 inch rims that are making my fillings come loose in my mouth...

I found these Maxilite Cup 1-Style Rims on the internet. Has anyone used these?

...and is a 55mm offset compatible with the front wheels of the 928?

I have very similar wheels for my '79 out on by 1st owner back in 1997, Cup I duplicates

Offsets are a little different:
17x7.5 et 52
17x9 et 47

Drives well with appropriate tire sizes

I am about to change them out and replace with original 16" phone dials with Continental ExtremeContact Sports. Will update if the original setup feels better

If you are interested, let me know when I have them off without the tires.

Those will look nice on a 928 and the 55 front offset isn't bad but is about as low as you should go. A lot of people buy 911 or Boxster wheels but they are 50-53 front offset which, isn't great. The Panamera wheel looks very nice and is a very good offset setup for the 928 if you're looking for options.

55mm Should be considered the absolute minimum offset for the front of a 928. It effectively zero's out any "negative scrub radius" benefits designed into the front suspension and steering, meaning no high-speed stability or bump-steer correction is available. Going less than 55mm adds to bump-steer and tramlining difficulties, and makes the car steer and handle relatively poorly, especially/even when wider rubber is fitted.

Thank you all for your replies!

dr bob, does your response indicate that you'd simply pay extra to buy 928-specific rims?
