Question suspicious Ebay auction?

I've noticed that the good people at E and H Motors(username: xnfl14), are running auctions for two different 928's simultaneously. One is a 1991 S4 with 22,000 miles while the other is a 1987 S4 with 40,000 miles. The interesting thing about it is that the '91 is being run as a "private auction" while the '87 is being run wide open. One of them is at a rediculously high amount with three days still to go while the other is running at about par. Can you guess which one is the "private auction"?...........

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2441938759

The white one was sold and returned back in November. I know this car was returned because of several problems. Why it took four months to try to sell, I don't know. Still they both left Positive feedback. Never go by a sellers feedback, at least on cars. Negative feedback can be removed and a return deal with the agreement of Positive feedback is not out of the question. Always look at the car in person!!! No such thing as too good to be true. Usually never is. PPI's are a waste of money and useless as far as my experience has proven. I witnesed a PPI in my garage on a Mercedes I sold on ebay. No more of an inspection than you get when you go to a 30 minute jiffy lube Oil change Co. Even though I knew the car was solid and no problems, He didnt look hard enough to find any. He even let me drive the car around the block for the test drive !

Negative feedback on e-bay cannot be removed unless profane language is used. There are no exceptions. Mike

Well then why the f%#$ have all my f*#@%&g negative &^@#$%^ comments always been F*&^*ng removed. This is Bu&%**%ht!!!!

Just kidding, But they can be removed. Ebay likes happy sellers that pay lots of commision so they can make lots of $$$$$$$$. Why do you think some of the car dealers on Ebay almost always have a perfect feedback? Most who buy used cars without seeing them first can always find a problem or two that the seller didn't admit too.

I think fixing problems is the key........If you dont you will slowly rot away into Pinto and Citation sales thus ending any hope of a solid reputation or positive cash flow....aint that right Porsche1996?

If the '91 is all that he says it is with no problems the price is justified. I have had more then a few offers for my pristine low mileage '90 GT in the $30K range. Excellent, low mileage, orignal examples will always be in high demand.......

Sure it is. But When I had a problem with a certain seller on a 90GT I owned. I never was able to get satisfaction from them on this deal. After a couple months of hang ups and non-returned emails, I left a negative feedback on their listing which was removed less than two days later. Now how does this show others of this particular dealerships way it handles its problems. It is easier and cheaper to remove a feedback through Ebay than it is to take care of a customers problems. Works both ways.

Besides Sean ,you are the one who warned me about problems with the white 928 they are selling now. You know who bought it last time.

And the name is 1662.................... Porsche 1662

MikeN,

I sell alot of 928's on Ebay, username;*928GTS* and I know what these cars are worth.....believe me! I have bought and sold roughly 50-60 S4's, GT's and GTS's, most of which were 5 speeds! My only comment was that this particular dealer is running two different types of auctions on two different cars at the same time. Why run one as a private auction and the other wide open..........obviously up to something!!!!!!! Besides, every single car this dealer sells is either the "best on the planet" or the "finest in existance" So you can't believe everything he says to be true!

So they can bid on both of their cars at the same time and not get caught. Personally, I think Private auctions should be reserved for the 1/4 million and up auctions. not a $20,000+ car. How can a bidder know if he is bidding against one bidder or 28 different. Nothing can prevent shill biding in this type of auction.

You are exactly correct 1662! There really is no reason to run a private auction on such an item unless you've got something to hide! These guys shill on a continual basis! They buy, sell and bid with at least three different usernames. xnfl14, eandhmotors and 8reccs8. Just gives ya' a warm fuzzy feelin' about dealers, don't it!

P.S. Be on the lookout for another upcoming auction from E and H Motors featuring a '95 black/tan GTS 5 speed with 63,000 miles. They purchased it on Ebay with the username, eandhmotors, from a gentleman in San Fransisco for $34,500. The car was a complete repaint! I'll be interested in seeing if they mention anything about that in their "best on the planet" or "finest in existance" ad!

They do often have some really nice examples though. What bothers me the most is that they make such a big deal about their auctions being no reserve ("This car WILL be sold to the high bidder", etc., etc.), and then they are very quick to just end their auctions when the bids aren't getting high enough for them. Then you see that same car listed again about a month later. I was the high bidder on one when that happened, and it was very disappointing.

They are hiding something........sorry Porsche 16938432045=2394755493

How do you remove feedback without fixing the problem? You have to use square trade and an amicable agreement has to be reached before either party will agree to the removal of the feedback.

You'll notice some cars are up for auction perpetually. In fact I know of one white/black 86.5 5spd that was up for auction on and off for over two years! They'll disappear for a few months, maybe change hands between "different" dealers only to reappear for an 8recs8 or a zillion others ebaymotors shills to "win" or to goad some poor sucker into paying way more than a car is worth. Enthusiast cars like the 928 are perfect for this scam. An eager buyer starts thinking about owning/driving THE car of their dreams and the next thing they know they have been tricked into out bidding a shill. I don't know why these shill dealers bother with the private auctions... eBay could care less. Sure they'll give lip service to wanting you to report shills to them, but they will do absolutely nothing to stop them. Ask me, I have documented and reported on 8recs8 and others countless times. Only once did eBay ban the user, but only because they were so flagrant as to be laughable. The buyer is at a complete disadvantage in this shell game called eBay. Even if you do find the right car, have it checked out ahead of time and bid appropriately, all it takes is for the seller to change their mind and end the auction early because they didn't quite get the price they expected. Been there done that... Still there are many happy eBay buyers on this forum, so it can be done. The odds are just pretty long IMHO.

Default Prediction

I'll predict the private auction which is at $27.6 now will reappear. There is no honest justification for that price.

All I am saying, Blueball69, Look at your compitition in St. loius. there are a lot of people who bought a car from them who have left negative feedback that did not have any problem solved. I am sure you have taken care of most if not all of your customers. But you are giving this Forum a false sense of security by letting them think neg feedback cant be removed. Ebay allows a follow up comment from a buyer. I would feel more comfortable buying a car from a dealership who have encountered problems that were solved. It is imposible for any brocker or seller of any used car to know each car they sell 110% But if I see a seller who hade a problem or neg. feedback and then that problem was resolved, I have a higher opinion of that seller.
