Rear suspension and transmission cleaning?
Hi Paul,
Going way back to early in your thread, what process did you use to bring out that beautiful finish on the rear crossmember and transmission?
Cheers,
Rick

Rick,
When the transmission went to the rebuilder, he offered a tumbling service to return the case to the 'as cast' finish. I asked him to throw in the rear cross member at the same time. He gets the parts clean, very clean, and then puts them in his large tumbler. His abrasive media is his secret sauce. Hope this helps. Calif. Motorsports in Lake Havasu did the work.

This is an amazing thread with lots of great info to help guide me with ‘78 0338 who’s currently in my care.
Is this the car that was just featured in Panorama? It was a fantastic set of photos and article.

I just read today…..so many thoughtful aspects to your renovation.
Extensive restorations like this are true to the inch by inch process .
EVERY LITTLE DETAIL AND FINISH MEANS SO MUCH.
As a New owner of a 79 0482 I also enjoyed the punch list of accessory items ,which I now
appreciate like all key & pouch, full tool set, jack in sack, unused spare, particleboard cover with latch,
Goodyear plastic cover, spare bulb kit, gloves, spark plugs in plastic bag, tagged extra belts.
Did not know these items were there until at home inspection!
Thanks for all the knowledge and efforts to present the journey
Love it and big congrats
