Hi!

It looks like i'm going to manufactur the late S4 lens so far. Maybe sidemarkers as well.

I know people who have tried the DIY procedure with pices from A fluorescent lamp armature.
They will not hold for stonedamge, and it's hard to get them seal against the body of the car.

And my opinion is that they looks like S**T.
Lenses from me will look just like the orginal lens. No exeptions!

Rear lenses is not impossible, but they would be quite expenive.

I still need more e-mails with interests! I will get back to all of you as soon as i have established the price.

I vote for clear front and rear clear side markers for the early cars, 77-86.

And/or, smooth paintable blanks to delete the side markers. Like (here).

Rear lenses for the S1,S2, and S3 928 would be MUCH easier. The lense piece is flat plastic, and I was even thinking of cutting my own replacement on a CNC flatbed out of thermal 1/8" acrylic and then having them "blow-domed" for an added effect. I suppose I could make a mold to stretch the flat cut piece with when its being heated up to get a certain domed look. Then, using some black silicone, cut plastic or rubber foam i could create the dividers between the light housings.
The finish of the plastic could be smoked with frosted circles for each of the light indicators, then special bulbs could be used for the indicators.
Who has those bulbs? Im already running an red cluster LED style brake lamp.

"Jim Nowak posted a picture of ones he made himself a while back,
but the picture was on the old rennlist server, and was not transferred to the new one..."

Actually, Pierre Martines sent me these from South Africa:

Figures, the early models get screwed out of all the goods. No F@#$ing wonder so many get parted out.

I would be very interested in rear lenses on the S4. Just like the ones on the 996's. I sell alot of these cars and have found that the yellow/orange rear turn signals look pretty dated. They especially look bad on the red cars. Red and orange just don't look good together. Please let me know if you would consider making a 996 type lense........I would purchase quite a few!

i agree with Shane... i really hope something gets done for the pre-S4's too. the early cars have such a great ***, but the coloured lenses really give the age of the car away... smoked rear lenses and front turn lenses would definately bring the car up to date...

regards,

G

Well, if Joakim makes side markers, they will fit all years. Then it's only a little step to make turn signal lenses for the early cars. And then I've seen a pre-S4 where the owner turned the orange segments into the same red as the red parts of the lens, and I thought that looked pretty good.

Jim...

That's the one!

I think a cover like that would not be too hard to make.
In clear or smoked, either one would not be hard, once a mold was made of that inset area.
