Lightbulb Painted Side Marker Lights

I started with the side emblems, then came the rallye driving lights.
I went on to paint the back marker lights, now here's the whole schmeel.

animated pic takes a bit to load

I sanded, then primed, then sanded, then painted the markers a similar white.

Anyone else paint or remove the marker lights?

(I know Normy did...)

The fog lights are deleted, the lame 'WPO' driving lights use the fog light circuit, and have 1156 (27W) blue/white bulbs installed. I wired it that way so that when the asphalt-melting 7" driving lights come on with the high beams, the lame driving lights go out to save power.

Here's a comparison pic of regular markers on a familar car (moved from another post).

Seems like an awful price to pay for a simple hood ornament!! <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[hiha]" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />

Hi Porken,
Where were you driving when you hit that?

Do the side markers still shine through the paint?
Or did you multi-coat the markers so they just plug
the hole in the fender now.

ew928 - I unplugged and removed all the wiring and bulbs/holders on all four markers. The markers are just fillers, I retained the o-rings so that dirt doesn't creep out from the wheel wells.

BTW: There's no equipment safety checks in Oregon.

Somehow I like the new lights and the folding plate now.

Well...I was kind of waiting to see your cool lights so I didn't post...

[Me not post a picture? Somethings wrong~!]

Anyway...the finished product in Fort Lauderdale. Guess the date-

Cool

Right rear- kind of like George W. Bush...

[sorry]

I had the taillights off for whatever reason. What fascinates me about this picture is how little red there is in the whole scheme-

Cool

As to the FED lights themselves...I've pulled the bulbs and wrapped the wires around whatever was convenient around the area. I thought about clipping them off, but I didn't because I was worried that inspection might be instituted

[Right now in Florida...there is no inspection. If you could make up a VIN for your dining room table, you could road-register it and bolt on a licence plate. Personally, I don't recommend this- the handling would probably be atrocious~~]

and the notion of cut wires shorting and causing a fire bothered me. I figured "Best let things alone~"

Anyway....I've camouflaged them, and it seems a viable alternative for now-

GoRideSno - I moved the lights up, in, and back a bit so they are a little more integrated (and don't scrape on the end of our driveway anymore either).

Normy - you were waiting to see if I got flamed for 'defamation of 928' weren't-cha?

How are the markers wired in on your euro?

If the US connectors are present, then they are just flat bladed terminals, just unplug 'em.
In the back, the connectors are inside, in the corner, pull 'em and tape over the hole.

There is a bunch of flat connectors behind the front bumper in the wheel well on both sides for the fog, driving, and directional lights.

This makes it easy to rewire, eg fog to US driving, or, like I had for a while, the US driving (with an orange bulb) and the outside marker as directionals, and the regular blinker as the marker light.
