Thank you to Mark / Sharkfest / What a welcome
I am brand new to the 928 Community having just purchased 9288201117 (a '78 / silver / black / slicktop / 5 spd) three weeks ago. What an exceedingly warm and enthusiastic welcome at Sharkfest yesterday. To everyone (Greg) who helped with the radiator hose diagnosis & replacement -thank you! To Rob who gave a guided aisle tour of all the drugs that are available in the 928 used component world. And to Van Bagley who stuck the needle in the furthest -with a wild ride in his 6 liter 4 cam monster! To Mark for the gracious hospitality and access to shop the aisles. With this warm welcome, I know this is going to be a fun journey.

Mit you failed to mention your family heritage here at RL.
You definitely have the right group of friends to help see your project through with Rob and William on your side and a local provider of 928 crack
now you better post some pictures quick

Ah yes. My brother Joe (Cain) was the original enabler going back 15 years. It all started in driving his (2) 928 S4's. Joe suffers from STD (Severe Torque Deficiency) where your average 4 cam German V-8 is not enough. So you build a strokers. His original STD effort was a 427 C.I. BMW E12 5 series, famously renamed "the heartbeat of Bavaria" The 570 now resides in Texas. And yes, that is a small block 427.
Joe's 91 S4 above.
Joe and I also have un-medicated OCD conditions resulting in SCC syndrome (Severe Chassis Cleaning) so many of the upcoming images will be hygiene related.
In all seriousness, it was William and Rob's effort on Minerva that created the OCD flair up and plunge into the recent purchase. Watching their progress and commentary on the earliest model differences really peaked my interest. Then I got a chance to drive Minvera. Game over. I thought it would be fun,and easier, working on a car where someone else designed the transaxle.
I purchased 9288201117 based exclusively on the chassis and suspension images. Our prior projects always involved resto-mods. This project will be keeping 1117 totally original with a few factory optional extras added in. Here it is as delivered three weeks ago.

And I have to thank you for taking your time to talk to me about Van's car. Your compliments were certainly appreciated.

You have landed in one of only a few 928 enthusiast corners of heaven. Having Rob & William close by, and the 928 International resources just a few freeway exits away makes that a fabulous spot to start a 928 adventure story. Plus you have Greg to backstop you on anything you need to do. I will confess that my decision on my 928 purchase keyed on having 928 International a similar short drive away, along with the gracious support of the emerging online enthusiast population. But it was Mark and Jim Bailey that helped me decide that I could own and successfully maintain an "interesting" car. I moved from the beach NW of you to Cypress, then Glendale, then on to central Oregon since those early days, but it's still the ongoing support from the same group that keeps ownership "less unreasonable" than it would be otherwise. Enjoy the ride!

Dr. Bob,
I feel very fortunate to have landed in the 928 Triangle of energy. You are correct, local support makes all the difference. I am drinking through a fire hose of new 928 data. In a 40 year old game of catch up.
Very best,
Paul 'mit Wasser' Cain
