Steering Wheel Adjuster
Good Evening Fellow Sharksters,
Of all the weird things to be missing on my 928 is the handle to allow you to adjust your steering wheel up and down. It doesn't look like anything is broken. There is a horizontal hole for the handle to go through then a few inches back a vertical hole that is the clamp or brake bracket.
Is this going to be a problem to fix?
I can't remeber if my S4 handle was color specific? My GT has Classic Gray.
Anyone seen this before and where might I find a handle?
Thanks

Re: Steering Wheel Adjuster
Jim,
Porsche changed the pod adjustment lever in 1990. It went from the big black flap ...to more of a lever. It is different from your old 89.
I have never seen one, so perhaps someone else can chime in on tricks...but i think it is flush with the column cover and just levers down and back...rather than flapping down towards the front..(does this make sense????)...
Let us know if you find it...

The only car I've been in with less travel is my wife's Montero.
Useless devices in both cars as far as I'm concerned.
I mean really it doesnt't even help when working on the car.
there is enough weight there so that at full down -What? 1/2 of an inch-
it should stay there.
Now, the Jag XJR SC...motorized, lumbar, motorized tilt and telescoping steering wheel. makes a tight fit worthwhile the 370 HP doesn't hurt either..
But yeah, basically it's a 3" wide flap, must be a cammed clamp -maybe the bolt itself- up loosens, lift wheel/pod, push flap down and it's locked.
Simplicity itself just not enough travel(IMO).

On the second day of my 2 day/2500 mile trip I was wishing I could drop it down, its in full up position. From what I can see from the slider it looks like about 1 1/4 of travel.

Jim,
You have more travel than I do...difference in year perhaps.
There were a couple of cars being parted out, did you contact them for parts/info?
You could try 928 INTL, didn't see any in the catalog but with that many sHARk carcasses they should be able to help you.
