Curious - Anyone have a streetable supercar with <5 lbs/HP?
I've always considered a true supercar to have a power to weight ratio of <5 lbs/HP.
Does anyone on this forum actually have one of these beasts? Or are they all relegated to only the race cars?
This would require 660+ HP? My neck hurts just thinking about this.

i'm amazed how many mclarens i see around the north dallas area. supercars - mclarens, lambos, etc. - never look 'right' in commuter/rush hour traffic. they're like spaceships being forced to slowly plod along with the pedestrians. always makes me grin.

Twin Turbo Todd's 928 = 3,347lbs with 941rwhp.
Use whichever calculation for crank horsepower currently acceptable. If we just agree on roughly 1,200bhp considering 18% drive train loss = 2.789lbs per HP
I've never been launched off an aircraft carrier, but riding in his 928 must be pretty darn close.
It's also his daily driver unless their is snow on the ground. Yes he drives it year round.

Todd has been debating for years just to buy a car like the McLaren, but I think he's having too much fun playing with his 928.

From my experience with Power Adders on a 928, anything North of 450hp will give you a Super Car like feel.
As 928's do not have Launch control or Traction control and or All wheel drive, any more HP really can't be put to the pavement.
A Murph Stage III kit w/ Dyno of 505 at the rear wheels or a similar Twin Screw setup will scare the bejebus out of you

I usually see them on 75 near the High 5 interchange. just recently I was on 635 express west bound (below ground level) from the high 5, and something buzzed me at a speed I could not measure. I was cooking along about 95 and it passed me like I was standing still, leapfrogging through traffic. I couldn't even tell what it was. I heard it, and thought it was a bike coming up and about the time I looked at my mirrors, he went blowing by. he scared the crap out of the driver of a honda fit in the left lane doing a prius impression.

I'm in the Keller/Southlake area and see several makes of Mclaren cars frequently an orange 650 ,a dark cherry red 12C and a couple blocks over there's a really cool silver 570. I love seeing them, when they 1st came out
seeing them in magazines I thought just an OK design but in person absolutely beautiful.

years ago i worked on a rennlister's 968 in the LA foothills...
the guy also owned a ~650hp 996T and let me drive it around town and on the highway.
feather light clutch, very easy to drive normally, but then flooring it in 4th 5th or 6th (!) on the open highway was like warp drive.

McLarens are down right pedestrian in Malibu (location of my last job).
They sure do look interesting in person at shows local to me. I just kind of feel like they all look the same. But that is just my opinion though.
I sure would like to drive one, owning one is a different story. High miles is +40K. The 928 has made me jaded on supercar practicality and reliability lol.
