Funny, me too. Any idea where we could get a copy of that?

Yep. My father was downsizing about 3 years ago, he went through his basement of car magazines (back to the late 50's.....) and sent me everything 928-related. Here's the article from C&D, scanned and OCR'd.

Reading the article, it's such a disappointment that they built it with just 10 extra hp over the S4. Why did they even bother?

In that era, 10 Hp was a huge increment. It was a big deal, back when 300 HP was the glass ceiling.

Here's mine, Car and Driver, mostly complete form mid 1970's through early 2000's, plus some R&T, MT, and Car Life going back to mid 1960's. I still get Car and Driver - I just don't save them anymore.

I remember this 928 article from back in the day.

Feeling nostalgic over my first car out of Engineering School ('86 Audi Coupe GT), I searched for and purchased the C&D issue where it won "Best Sports Coupe" in a seven car comparison test. In this same issue was a comprehensive test of a 1985 928S, both 5 speed and Auto. I think this helped me kick-off my quest to own one, which I now do.

I still have that issue myself and wish I could find out the VIN of the car they featured. My first 90GT was identical to it and was one of only a few GTs in that color combo that were manufactured in the time frame necessary to potentially be the car featured in the article.

Rob, thanks so much!

The article expresses my feelings about the 928 pretty accurately. I always regarded car magazines as a little bit for "dreamers" and borderline fantasy-like. Maybe the descriptions are more realistic than I had thought.

What's with all them negative vibes from you lately?

What they should have done was separate "S4" and "GT" in 87 (or anytime earlier) to distinguish the auto's from the manuals.
