WTB - modern set of wheels for 928 S4
Looking for modern set of wheels that will fit 87 928 S4. I prefer 17 or 18 wheels that can fit wider tires with correct offset without having to roll fenders etc. Both factory Porsche and aftermarket wheels will be considered. Let me know what you have. Feel free to PM, email or post here.

Shop locally for Panamera 18" take-offs. They are available with OK front offsets and widths. You'll need shorter tires than what comes on the Panamera, so wheels-only as you look unless the tires are "free". Search here for pics of some 928s with these wheels installed, so you get an idea which versions will look the best to your eye on your car.

I bought these from Stan, installed them on my 79 then the 87. Shortly after bought another set of C-III's and refinished my modified phone dials for the 79.
Long story short I've been debating on selling them since I'll never use them unless I buy another 928:

I've always loved this style and was looking for these OZ's for quite a while when Stan offered them.
Here is how they look on an 87 without the center caps installed. First drive after installing them, nose isn't settled:

I always feel guilty that I removed my factory flats, they really do scream iconic 928.
But I looked around for a more contemporary option as well.
What I went with were turbo twists. I think that really suits the body lines of the S3’s at least. More aggressive, also shows off those big calipers.

Regarding Porsche factory Carrera III wheels: you are talking about following specs?:
fronts 8x18J ET 57 , Rears 10x18J ET 578
Would you please confirm? They look really nice.
I also know a person who has Carrera IV wheels with following configuration who claimed they fit perfectly without any modifications. Only problem is Carrera IV wheels are more expensive.
Carrera IV wheels specs:
Fronts: 997.3621.37.01 8x18j et57 225/40/18
Rears: 997.3621.41.05 10.5x18j et60 285/30/18

Thanks - those wheels are cool, they have a very ultra contemporary look with straight adages. I think I will have to get used to that look .

Front offset for Panamera wheels is et 59. The rear is et53.
I have them on both my 81 and 89 and only had rubbing on my 81 because the tires I put on had too wide of a sidewall. I put narrower ones on and the issue went away.

Wheel choice is so subjective thus you have to look at them yourself and decide what you like.
I would do a search on eBay using 'Porsche wheels' and start looking thru them. After an hour of looking, you'll start to get a feel for what you like. For example, I'm partial to the mesh-style of wheel and have them on 3 cars.
For fitment both front and rear, the closer to 60 mm offset the better. In general, over 60 is better, less than 60 not as good/optimal. My point is, there is some wiggle room here.
I scored a set of black 996 GT3 rims/tires with virtually new Pilot Sports for $1200 for the racecar for street duty - that was a steal. They even came with Porsche center caps and valve stem caps.
You just have to look and be patient.

Three Wheelin'
My 18" Panamera 10-spoke wheels were installed well over 7 years ago. I still like them and about the only wheel I'd even consider changing them for would be factory Carrera III's. There are plenty of good rubber choices that fit. Hankook Ventus was on my first set, now running Goodyear Indy 500's on my 928 and my BMW. BTW, I have an extra set of BLACK 10-spoke wheels available for $400 plus shipping.
