Maryland State Inspection
I just moved to MD and and I need to get my shark inspected. I am a little afraid because it just cost me $1k to get my 94 dodge inspected. It seems that the inspection is very strict in MD.
With that said, I need to find a shop that knows the 928's so I don't run into any problems. I'm located in the Baltimore area.
Help!

I had my car inspected at British American Auto in Columbia. They were pretty complete and strict. They wouldnt let me slide on leaking shocks and holes in the resonator. I had to have them welded closed as patching was not good enough. I fixed that and replaced the shocks. Of course i had all this done as a PPI and the seller knocked off the repair costs from the total price of the car.
Anywho, go to TriTech in Annapolis on Hudson Street. (1 block east of Solomons Island Road & West Street intersection) They know 928s. They can even do a proper alignment job too.

I'm not sure that Tri Tec does MD State Inspections (give them a call). But they do nice work.
No vested interest - just a satasified customer.

Welcome to MD. I too use Tri Tec because I live in Annapolis and they are excellent. Depending on where you live you might try Cignatta Motor Works in Abingdon 410-679-7600, GT Performance in Edgewood 410-538-3400, SSI in Towson at 410-668-1100, Ralphs in Reisterstown at 410-526-2500 or Valley Motors Porsche in Cockeysville at 410-666-7777.
When you are done, you should join the Chesapeake Region of the Porsche Club. Check out their website at www.pcachs.org, or e-mail me at sh88ark@comcast for more details.

It my sense and experience that aside from Roger of AutoTheraphy in Gaithersburg (who is probably the best MD based 928 wrench with an independant shop) that TriTech is a close 2nd for 928 work. All the others are good shops, but the only one of those that i have heard doing 928 work is Cignatta. But I would still go out of my way to take my car to TriTech or Auto Theraphy for any job i couldnt do myself. IMHO, if they dont have the shop manuals for the 928, but have all the other Porsches covered, look elsewhere.

George,
Thanks of the info on various shops. I'm in the Bel Air area and some of the shops are in my area. Thanks.
By the way, I have already transferred to the Chesapeake Region. Sorry NY Metro guys. I really had a good time and experience with the MY Metro group and I will surely miss them and the autocrossing.

Hope you are settled in and can autocross with Chesapeake. I tried to return your call but couldn't make out the phone number. Finally got your number at work but they did't know your new number and you had already left. Anyway, maybe I'll see you at the next Frenzy, be well. Oh, I'm picking up a 1989 928Gt this weekend, more work to fill those too few idle hours.

Wayne,
Chesapeake PCA has a good autocross program. I participated in it last year in 5s with the 928. I think I won the class for the year, but missed the awards banquet. I'll be running my 924s this year in most events and the 928 in a couple of them. The Autocross schedule is posted on the PCACHS website.
Also consider the DC region SCCA. We run at Fedex field. I bought a full season subscription which guarantees me a prepaid spot at each event. These events sell-out online often within hours after they open up registration
