Default Please educate me about these side marker lights?

Hello !
I've never seen these round front and rear side markers. What years/models were they found on the 928 ?
Thanks !

Have seen various size and shapes on grey market euro imports over the years. Variables...what port they came in, what shop was doing the federalization and what lights were on hand. Some of the lucky ones were sparred and got through without them.. Some of the very early cars had no side markers at all. Inner door impact bars, disconnected headlight adjusters and crappy 7” sealed beams, etc.,were also swapped in to meet DOT requirements. T

I agree with Tony & Stan (and Hovercat, too).

There was no standardization for type, or even placement of corner markers on Grey Market imports.

Many were small, rectangular 'trailer lights'. Some were placed in the oddest of spots. Directly above the rear tire is one that I've seen once or twice.
Mine are actual Porsche corner markers, with the holes cut into the fenders. They look pretty close to stock.

If you look at Euros in the for sale thread, or even in the 'post a 928 pic' thread, you will see how much variation there is.

Are they marker lights or just reflectors? I had thought the latter - my boss had a 924 many years ago - I don't recall ever seeing them illuminated?

Markers. They are supposed to light up.

They actually look pretty cool lit up.
At least they do on a 924.

Indeed this does look better than 95% of these grey market conversions - and it is Porsche equipment, but...

My boss was driving a LHD (USA) car in England at the time (long long ago) - its possible the UK DOT wanted them disabled? in a reverse compliance way?

To illustrate the square 'trailer lights' and the non-standard placement on some grey market imports, check out this one:
