Default Temp II sensor

After dealing with Richard from Electronik Repair (top bloke) sent me some instructions on testing the temp II sensor. I purchased a new one last year (can't remember where from) and decided to test it. The results do not match Richard's and the Porsche workshop manuals and I was wondering if anyone else had had any issues.
The temperature sensor is a Bosch and marked 0 280 130 032/69
The results from my test

0 degrees C Term 1 Term 2

1.7 C. 0.5 ohms 238. ohms
21. C 0.9 235
47. C. 1.1 178
76. C 1.7 200

I can't understand why the sensor is marked with two different numbers 0 280 130 032 is what is in the PET and mine is marked /69 which from google searches uses both pins rather than a pin to earth twice.
Any advice would be welcome
Thanks
Glen

I believe what you are in possession of is a temperature sensor unit and not a Temp II sensor.

Good point John some pictures could assist with this ID.
google image search both sensors,
one is a Temp 2 the other is a temperature sensor.
could also help with adding the year machine your working on

TEMP-II (feeds LH & EZK) is on the starboard side of the water bridge.
TEMP-I (feeds the gauge) is on the port side of the water bridge.

The Temp II for LJet is different from the one used with the LH. For the LJet version, yiou measure resistance directly across the terminals. For LH, you measure resistance individually from each terminal to ground. Which one do you have?

Look like the wrong Temp II
84 (ROW) to 95 including S2 &S3 is Bosch 0280130069
80 to 84 is Bosch 0280130026

028013032/69 is a water temperature sender for the gauge and not a temp II.
Similar but not the same as the water temperature sensor used on the 89 to 95 digital cars.

I tested the sensor from each pin to the chassis of the sensor. The ohms readings are not identical 0.5-1.7 ohms on one pin, 238-200 ohms on the other pin. Does the temperature sensor require two different ohms values on later cars ?

Thanks Roger for your info I have emailed you to purchase the correct one.

Glen,

Not sure you have grasped the situation so for clarity- the first set of values you submitted were somewhat meaningless as that unit is a sender for temperature indication on the dash and you have to measure the resistance across the two terminals to get the value of the analogue signal. This item physically looks like a later model Temp2 sender but functionally they are quite different.

The temp 2 sender for later models has two channels, each channel has to be measured from the terminal to the body [earth] and both channels should give the same resistance reading give or take a little as one channel is for the LH and the other for the EZ. Why they did it this way who knows as one might expect the signal to be relayed between the LH and EZ units but...?

This thread is a case in point of why you must always make clear what model year 928 is being discussed. In my case, I assumed that, because the OP was in communication with Rich, the subject 928 was a’87+.

It will probably take another page of posts to sort out the confusion.

A big thanks for all of the help and advice, Roger has put me straight. The part I have is for the later models and is a dual sensor but for temp gauge and warning light.

Hola, buenas tardes, el sensor de temperatura II lleva la referencia 928 606 126 00? El que ahora lleva mi s4 es un bosch 028013032/69 y acabo de leer que esto no es un temp II, ¿es cierto? Gracias.

Bosch number is 0280 130 069
I have no idea what a 0280 130 32/69 is. It could be the Bosch version of the gauge temperature sensor on the left of the thermostat housing which is normally a VDO sensor.

Ok, thank you very much Roger, is there any difference between these references? Bosch 0280130069 Bosch 0280130032 Porsche 928 606 126 00
