Default URO/APA viscous fan clutch ?

Has anyone got experience of how effective these replacement fan clutches from URO are ? They cost about 1/3 of Porsche price $660.

NO, in a word. But...early in my time with my car, in Saudi, had temp control problems. I tried refilling with Toyota fluid, but it was spat out in short order. Also was familiar with LR Viscous couplings being very effective, and relatively cheap, and available, with fans - 11 blade, 17" dia. Whan staionery idling in my Disco I could hear the fan noise increase as the viscous came in. Found a dead 928 viscous and stripped the alloy part off the shaft. The LR couplings attach to the water pump shaft via a LH threaded boss, so I got a dead pump, cut off the threaded bit, and had it turned down so it was a press fit on the 928 fan shaft...bingo!
Worked well. A quick surf shows the viscous are under A$100. Since returning to Oz have gone electric.

I have no direct experience but Mark Anderson has sold them, he may have some anecdotal experiences.

I'm not sure anything that is "URO" is made in "EURO" and I suspect is how "EURO" is spelled in China.

They do market cheap parts.

Their "Hirshmann" replacement antennae mast doesn't fit very well, has very "loose" mast sections, and needs the white "cord" shortened to retract all the way. Other than that, it's perfect.....and since the original is NLA, it works better than everything else!

I have sold about 30 of them so far with zero issues. They look well made and the cover is well sealed.
I understand what GB says about URO but in this case they seem OK especially at my price of $195 each.
They are warrantied for 2 years.

Some parts are good from URO. Others aren't.

My URO power steering reservoir looked fine, until I filled it up and discovered a poor seam that was leaking after driving. I'm still cleaning PS fluid off the front of the engine.

Quick Reply: URO/APA viscous fan clutch ?
