Default Low Mileage 928s4 on Ebay (5-spd)

This appears to be a very nice 928s4/5-spd on ebay.

Ebay auction for 928s4

It looks quite nice. However, I looked through this guys feedback and it seems like he sold 2 other 928's with under 25K miles. Maybe I'm a cynic, but it seems odd that he would have that many low mileage 928's.....

Seanball ..."I know the seller and he is solid. He buys all the cars he sells!" that is a funny comment in light of the fact that your "auctions" were for cars which you did not buy or own or probably even see ............ character witness and high bidder on this car ...... were you not the one seeking an S-4 for under 10 K and now are bidding $18 k for one . Obviously you do believe in this car which may well be a very nice car .........But please do keep chanting 928 928 928 it might just drive up the prices and that would be a good thing . I still can not understand the point of bidding on anything early in the cycle because unless you do a buy it now no one buys the car until the auction closes . Bids placed way early simply bump up the price but that is fine too and pretty obviously what you were doing .......

Maybe the seller prefers to buy and sell low mileage 928's. If this is the type of 928 he feels he can make the most amount of $$ buying and selling with the least amount of heart ache associated with this business, power to him.

A buyer should always procure at least a Carfax report and a pre-purchase inspection performed by a reputable 928 mechanic prior to the purchase.

Sounds like a CarSchmitt ad. "the most desireable"... Buyer be extremely aware.

Sean, if you know this guy well, this may be a case of bid shilling...

Food for thot

When I was selling a high mileage 944S2 I got a phone call from a guy. The first thing he asked me was the mileage on the odometer, and the second was how many miles it had listed on the title. It was obvious he hoped to roll it back. When he found out the title had 160K on it, he was no longer interested.

There are lots of one or two owner cars out there in states that do not record the mileage at annual inspections, some people can roll them back quite a ways. A good repair or inpsection history would be nice.

Is that funny JIm? What do you know about he and I? Anything? Making assumptions?

HAHAHAHA actually I bid on the car because if he lets it go at my PRICE I will buy it..... I know what he has into the car..... Some people here seem to know the OBVIOUS but until you do please DO..... I help folks who may want a lower end 928 as well and folks wanting a higher priced one. If i can get a black 88 928 5 speed with 25k miles for 19K then call me a shill bidding idiot.

Sounds like there are alot of non trusting folks in the 928 world..... Alot of people here have accused seller of being this or that without a fair shake. I guess when it comes down to it the only people who count are the people who call me and thank me for the service I provided....

P.s. Jim do you know how many times I have dropped the the name 928 International as a place to go for their 928 needs? Most have never heard of you because of being new to the market that is 928. I thought it fair as a fellow Rennlister to promote you and others doing good work. I wonder how many times you have made me look bad? Sounds like a fair deal to me.

Default THE seller of low mileage 928's on Ebay!

Being the seller in question, regarding my sale of low mileage 928's on Ebay, it's unfortunate that I find myself having to defend my love and passion for these cars. I have owned, bought and sold upwards of probably 50-60 928's over the last 8 years. I do this because I love my job and I love these cars! Has it ever occured to you that I spend countless hours everyday, looking in every source for exceptional examples of these cars. Did you know that LOW mileage cars are easier to sell than HIGH mileage cars?..... In addition to your hasty judgement of me, you neglected to notify everyone that I always have records, usually from day one and always Carfax certified! The name of the previous owner (usually the first) is on all documentation. I'm sure Mark Anderson of 928 International and Chuck Zachman of the 928 Registry will vouch for my authenticity! Its best to not rush judgement on someone you don't know anything about. I am deeply offended. Any questions concerning this issue feel free to call me anytime at 317-506-3022.

I bought my car from Mr Johnson. He exaggerated the condition of the car using words like "pristine" and "immaculate". Upon inspection it was nicer than most but not quite what he claimed. I probably paid more than I should have and have since spent quite a bit a money on it. Ultimately, I didn't do my homework and it has cost me more than I expected.

The first two service records in the eBay photo are from Euro Motorworks here in Indy. I would bet that he had those repairs done because he used them for some work on my car also. They're really the only place in town that does good work on 928s. I don't know about the other paperwork in the photo.

In person, he struck me as a bit of a used car salesman. Very agreeable and saying how great the car is.

I'm not trying to scare anyone off, just reporting my experience. In fact, I've considered looking at that car for myself. I'd be happy to take a look at it for a serious bidder although there's not much time left in the auction and it may be difficult to set up a meeting in time. I'd recommend Euro Motorworks for a PPI. Even though Mr Johnson is a customer of theirs, I think they would give an accurate assessment.

You guys are all paronoid. This car is a 928 owners dream. 25k 5-speed Black. I would definetly consider this car and would pay a heck of a lot more than 20k for it. Those of you who know me, don't think I wouldnt fly in a mechanic from Germany to look at it before wire transfer. But wow what a great deal if it stays in the low 20's.
