New Chin Splitter/Spoiler Project - need a car to digitize

Of course I am keenly aware of the need to contemplate impacts and their effect on this chin spoiler. It has to be considered in the design.
Please realise we are not the only cars that scuff their chin on parking curbs and driveways!
We will be making them from a proprietary MC2p composite that has been proven in use on just this application for a number of years with great success.
From one of my emails back-and-forth with Powerstream:
In addition, I am making the splitter able to be worn simultaneously with our Protection Plates so you can still protect your alternator, AC compressor, and motor.

In our experience they all will make contact on certain angles and speed bumps etc.
That is part of the big benefit of our MC2p composite, it will not break, shard or fracture like Carbon Fibre would do.
In most circumstances it will substantially protect the car should it touch the driving or racing surface.
In most cases if you run over a curb or speed bump it will scuff the bottom. It may feel like "oh **** I just ruined my new splitter" typically you will get out car and realize there is no issue at all.
We use aluminum mounts that will support the splitter but in extreme situations they will bend or deflect prior to damaging the member or surface they are attached to.
I think it will be more an issue of ride height of the car. If you get down to 2-3 inches it will contact a lot but rarely damaging the splitter.

I'm told that they often have to cut a opening in the bottom, rearward area to channel airflow to the brakes on other vehicles. We are discussing how we are going to do it on this one. It is a design consideration that will not be overlooked.

It turned out to be simpler than we thought to get air to the brakes, plus to allow for use of our Protection Plates with the chin splitter. I figured that would be a common install.
The next step is to make a final complete product and mount it up for test-driving and photos. That's what we are doing now.

We will be installing the finished prototype and driving it over some well known spoiler-eaters around here - driveways with steep angles. We'll see. And the chin splitter is designed to be used with our protection plates, so that will also help.

Here are few of the latest prototype pics. Please understand these are PROTOTYPES and not pics of the final product or the mounts. Once the design is confirmed, the actual mounts will be made from thicker material. We built a fair amount of range into each of the mounting positions to allow for cars that are a little different from each other or have been modified. Air flow for brake cooling is from under the spoiler, as before. This is the chin spoiler for the street/sport cars. The chin spoiler for competition will come after this one, and be more aggressive. Note recessed mounting points from the bottom.
As to mounts: the Protection Plates we manufacture were a natural choice for the major mounting structure because of their rigidity. And because I felt that the customer who bought this chin splitter would likely want to mount protection plates at the same time. So we have modified our protection plates to incorporate the chin splitter mounts into them. Future protection plates will have these chin spoiler mounts already machined in.

Thanks, Guys. What started this is that the OEM spoiler is currently priced at $974 by Porsche, and they have no stock at this time. Zero.

My hope is I can produce a sexy update for the 928 that is actually less expensive for all of us who's chin molding is bashed up and cracked, like mine.

Porsche shows 61 in stock and Rogers wholesaler has 22 in stock, he sells them for $425. Not sure where you get your info. I do have to say I like what you are doing here though, but please give out proper information.

Thanks for this, I have been trying to conceptualize something like this for my S3 (hate the stock chin spoiler) and this gives me some good ideas. I think hope maybe. The hard part with this one is the lower section of the brake cooling air intake, which is incorporated into the spoiler. But I'm working on it and your design is helpful- and ABS is cheap!
