Thanks Greg, after hearing your thoughts about that I will be looking for another machine shop.
Your suggestions are always appreciated . |

New machine shop has been found by the looks of the work they do should be hi quality. Greg sorry about the poor quality of the machine work those heads got if I had known how bad it would be I would have never taken them to that outfit Around here these shops have been closing bc most places are not pulling heads and rebuilding engines so the work has dried up That said I found a place that’s 20 miles away so they look like they are competent |
All good, it'll have a little extra compression. Moar power.

Oh wait...something about that sounds familiar. |
I can get Sunoco 93 with Ethanol 15%,
the fuel in this car has not gone bad its lite yellow but still smells like gas. |
Stan,
White, 1988S4. Glad to see that you are upgrading. Thanks for posting your progress. It is always fun and fascinating to watch you work Hope all is well, Ralph |
Hi Ralph, good to hear from you all is well here,I hope the same for you.
Your car needs more miles put on it. I have been cleaning the outside parts of the engine, I got the water bridge rebuilt and just finished the intake with new throttle and flappy bearings, the PC looks great. I picked up the heads they had to weld both of them. Lorenzo said they should be good to go, they also did a 5 angle valve job with new stem seals, no bent valves were found , the seats were a lil worn. They cut .005 in. off of each head. Now its raining for a few days so works going to slow down https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...b6727dcbd9.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...b0afa989cc.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...bd6ea6227f.jpg |
Looking great Stan!
Staying with Bonehead? Which machinist did you use for the heads? -Hoi |
Hello Hoi, I am staying with Bonehead as they do great work it just takes a while.
The new machine shop is called Lorenzo's Fast Flow Cylinder Headthey are in Langhorn PA a bit of a drive.I have not ever seen some of the equipment this shop has, they have all kinds of cool machine shop tools to restore cylinder heads. The heads look good they are sitting in my truck till the rains stops in a few days, then i can get them ready to put back on. |
Stan - Is Bonehead your PC shop? Over winter I'll be looking for a used intake. I want to prep it as much as possible myself...and find a better PC shop this time. Removing PC is difficult and time intensive and I think the shop that ruined the original intake used a stripper that badly etched and roughened it. There were a few bad casting flaws in the top that were made worse (small chunks plucked out) by the shop. All things considered, starting over with a new intake makes more sense and allows me to drive the car until the intake is ready to go on. The cam covers have somehow undergone a self-improvement process (further curing on the long drive to Camp928?) so I'll just let them be for awhile.
The PC on your intake looks great....(but saying so makes me nervous ;) ) |
I have gotten 8 intakes done by them Bonehead PC,
find an intake and send it to them tell them to make it just they do mine they will strip it and clean it and PC it, I use Porsche silver and clear Though i did get one with the hammer silver tone that was on the 88 5 speed that also looked great They can only do different colors for the letters on the cam covers not the intake |
