Oil filler breather leaks; symptoms

in another thread I was asking about getting the water bridge out. got that done and now on to the oil filler tube
my tube had a hairline crack, but in addition, now that I have gotten inside, the breather hose from the passenger
cam cover to the forward tube on the filler had a 2 inch gash. (surprised the hose was not hard; it was soft and supple?)
wondering if there would have been a noticeable symptom with this breather hose, essentially, wide open! assuming
that its like a huge vacuum leak? any effect on idle or power? there was an odor of engine emission, so I guess that's
over with.

The hot oil causes those hoses to go soggy. Easy to tell when they are shot- you just pinch them with your fingers and they should immediately return to normal- if they do not then you know they are shot and it is just a question of time. I reckon they are good for at least 10 years after that it is a crap shoot.
Failure of that hose is not like a vacuum leak but I suspect it will impact the ability of the motor to breath correctly as the induced vacuum will be lost. I will cause unfiltered false air to be sucked into the motor- whether it will be a significant degradation I do not know but for sure no degradation is good.

thank you fred. was hoping someone would say the new hose would increase HP by 50!! lol
the rear hose on the oil filler is in much better shape, but I would still like to replace. diagrams show
it routes to the MAF, but visually, I can see where is goes?? I see a rear hose off the passenger cam cover
to the MAF, but I cant trace the oil filler hose.
is this hose accessible and replaceable with the intake in place??? doesn't look like it.....

I’m not trying to beat dead horse, but every post you make indicates that your car needs an intake re-fresh
priority one. car really runs exceptionally well, and with these minor fixes, I can sell use with great pleasure and put the refresh off for at least
another year. ……..
do you happen to know if that other breather hose is accessible???

And... you are basically doing an intake refresh bit-by-bit but in reverse order. Which, btw, in case it isn’t obvious is going to take longer, result in more misteps and because of misteps will cost more.
In the last 13 days you have 12 active threads you started. 5 of them, based on the titles, can be summarized and closed with “do the @#$%ing intake refresh;(3 of the other 7 are duplicates. So, out of 12 threads you started that are active in the last two weeks 1/2 of them are just taking up space.)

Ha ha I agree with the above. So much of that work is SO much easier with the intake off...
