Oil flushing .87 auto

I will be swapping engines soon and looking for suggestions to clean out my oil components to include lines and oil cooler. Was thinking to drain oil and refill with a light weight oil and new filter . Rinse and repeat.
any other suggestions?

Presumably you are changing your TBF'd grinding machine out. If so you are removing most of the swarf contaminated oil circuit in one hit with the exception of the oil cooler circuit. As you have an 87 S4 presumably you have the oil cooler in the driver side radiator tank and that is the bit you have to get cleaned out perfectly together with the hoses. If you are going to achieve this you are going to need to set up a flush circuit with an engine oil solvent. You might do well to talk to a specialist radiator shop as to how to achieve the requisite level of cleanliness but for sure you need to get it right.
Hopefully some of the chaps will be able to give you a more definitive guide but generally speaking the trick to successful flushing is velocity through the item to be flushed in the region of 5m/sec but needless to say this is not a one size fits all guide. .

Replace the lines or have them rebuilt. They're old and can keep metal shavings stuck in the rubber that can come loose at an inopportune time.
I would flush the cooler with a good oil removing solvent a few times or do what Fred recommends above and get an expert opinion on what to do.

Oil lines are new, so I hope to keep them.
I will do a oil flush then work the radiator flush.

Just dropped the 968 off to get state inspected. Lord willing, it becomes my daily driver today. Very sporty, but cant convince myself that I like it better..
