Default Clutch disk question (with pictures)

Hi,

I replaced my clutch disk yesterday of my 79 euro and (as many members) stumbled upon a problem that the clutch wont disengage so i cant put it in gear.
Before i put the new ones in i was already wondering if the new ones where ok. So to be sure and go and try al kinds of things i hope somebody can give me an answer on my question underneath.
I got ordered a pair of new ones: 928-116-011-am from 928 R'us. But i might have made a mistake. On the picture you see the original ones (on top of the papers where the new ones where in, nervermind that).
One of them has the number: sachs 1864341103 the other sachs 1864342003.

My question is, are the ones 928rus i ordered (a pair of 928-116-011-am) the correct ones to replace the old ones on the picture? I read that old clutches have 2 different disks?

Two different clutch discs were originally fitted and are necessary AFAIK.

Roger (928 R Us) finds many "work arounds" and may have found that one part number works for both discs. Call and ask him.

I think Roger is on a holiday, but after fitting the old ones on the car today, i had exact the same problem (Yes i can still smile)....
So, i am going through the options, found this list from Dr.Bob bon the forum, so i guess i will start trying them:

-- Worn or seized pilot bearing (stated as replaced with new)
-- Worn or failed release bearing (stated as replaced with new)
-- Worn/failed pivot ball or bushing.
-- Poorly adjusted intermediate plate.
-- Worn splined clutch shaft
-- Incorrect or poor lubrication on clutch shaft.
-- Hydraulic problems:
. -- Master cylinder failing
. -- Slave cylinder failing
. -- "Blue Hose" failing or failed
. -- Air trapped in the system

My guess at this problem is the poorly adjusted intermediate plate. If someone has a clearer description /pictures of how to adjust that correctly let me know

Here's an interesting thread on that. MK says in post #32 that he has the dual- disc adjustment figured out:

I just installed those from Roger a few weeks ago, and before I did I called him to verify that they are both the same disk (unlike the Stock, w/ one having a longer spline).
He said yes, they should be both the same and they work, also said that many call him asking the same question.

I installed a couple sets of these before Rog started to sell them, to make sure they work. Had no issues beyond what you typically find on a dual disk clutch. Once you get the disks and the shaft aligned up correctly, it's nice and smooth. You will want to make sure all of your clutch bits are new/newish since you are in there anyway but I really should have to say that.

Thanks all for your feedback, i think the description in the post from @MarkKibort was great in helping me getting the problem solved. In did not shift in gear because of the "h's" I think the new disks from Roger are fine, but for now i kept the old disks in there (they are ok for a few thousand km.) In a year or 2 i will have the experience to replace a clutch in "Le Mans" time

Did you adjust it per MK's 1 mm clearance?

I ask because my dual disc feels a little draggy with the clutch pedal to the floor. I took my clutch cover off, and my adjusters are at about 3 mm, quite a bit more than MK's 1 mm.

I did not measure it, it think i put more space in could be up to 3 mm. Basically i made room and with a crowbar you could see it move free and not sticking anymore when engaged
