I have one on the shelf. From a 91 GT I parted out. I believe there are threads on those for other cars being 'adapted' for our cars.

The stock condenser isn't a parallel flow unit, it's a traditional single tube-and-fin design. Jeff is looking for a drop-in parallel flow unit that mimics the 21.5 x 16 x 1" dimensions of the stock S4 unit (Actually those dimensions are the 5-speed unit, I don't a have the inferior Rogerbox version here to measure.)

I just looked on the Griffiths site, and now I'm confused. Their blurb under the condensers section says they offer parallel flow condensers for the early models, and then when you click "Shop Now" it shows two options, auto and manual for '87-'95. Maybe they can weigh in here...

Right - I have a Griffiths parallel unit the GT's PO put on there. Was not aware there were auto versus manual differences.
Here's one I have.

Automatic cars have a transmission cooler sitting on top of the AC condenser, so the condenser is a couple inches shorter.

Hi Kevin-

Ah, got it- didn't realize Griffiths had a 928-specific solution. Cool!

Rob, humor me...the late 5spd condensers are not parallel flow?

That shoots holes in my hare-brained scheme to put a later condenser on my Red Witch.

Kevin, out of curiosity, what would you want for said condenser? Thanks.

Seth--

Kevin's GT conndenser is too tall for yout autobox car, unless you figure a way to put a different auto transmission cooler someplace else. The factory cooler sits where the top of the GT/5sp condenser lives. ;(

I don't think that's true - AT cooler in pre-87 is in the radiator side tanks. Unless there's something there he should be able to use it.

And sorry Seth, it is not available for sale. It violates the 928 parts hoarder rules.

dr bob and speedtoys, my 86.5 has the in-tank heat exchanger and a separate air-to-fluid heat exchanger behind the grille. To my understanding, my car has a 'full size' condenser.

kevin, aw man...worth asking.

Seth, you can use the parallel flow condenser that Griffith's already has on offer.

It's a direct bolt it replacement.
